Custom named logwatch script
Hello, I am using multiple files for logging activities for named daemon. The files are in /var/named/chroot/var/log/named/, for example /var/named/chroot/var/log/named/general.log. I am trying to make logwatch look into them. I have created /usr/share/logwatch/default.conf/logfiles/named.conf like this: LogFile = /var/named/chroot/var/log/named/general.log *ExpandRepeats *OnlyHost

Logwatch
Having FC3 systems and utilizing Dovecot, I have come to rely on some of the information I get from the daily logwatch run. Logwatch, by default, doesn't properly recognize dovecot's information in the messages file, but it is easy to tweak. The patch below will give you some statistics regarding POP3 and IMAP usage. I believe I grabbed all of the differences in the unified diff

logwatch patch
Don't remember if I already wrote about this. But ran into it tonibhg again. Logwatch as distributed with CentOS expects yum log files in different format. As result, logwatch will not report anything. The patch is really simple (and attached). Hopefully it'll be part of 4.3 (if not sooner). The upstream is not likely to patch it, since they don't distribute yum at all.

Logwatch, cron, and dovecot
Howdy all, Question for anyone. I have centos 5.x on my server. Everyday I get a logwatch sent to my mailbox. I usually check every couple weeks and this time I got a surprise... Up until may 15th, the watch started with cron begin/ cron end and then went to http begin/end.... May 16th had the selinux (which I have disabled) and dovecot listings above the http begin. Cron was absent.

Trouble using backgroundrb
Hi all, I''m a newbie to backgroundrb and am having trouble integrating it into my rails-app. I''m using namespaces to differentiate between the parts of my app. When I want to create a new worker, it seems that it cannot find the worker object. Here''s my code: -------------------- controller app/passwd/index -------------------- class Passwd::IndexController <

Using anova(f1, f2) to compare lmer models yields seemingly erroneous Chisq = 0, p = 1
Hello, I am using R to analyze a large multilevel data set, using lmer() to model my data, and using anova() to compare the fit of various models. When I run two models, the output of each model is generated correctly as far as I can tell (e.g. summary(f1) and summary(f2) for the multilevel model output look perfectly reasonable), and in this case (see below) predictor.1 explains vastly more

acts_as_paranoid: has_one_paranoid
Hi all, Ran in to a problem with AR::B#find(:include) and acts_as_paranoid, well described here: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/57945 So I whipped up this thing, which seems to work for me: module ActiveRecord class Base def self.has_one_paranoid(*args) ref = create_has_one_reflection *args cond = args.last[:conditions] cond = cond.blank? ? '''' : cond

5.9 logwatch yum filter broken
After the upgrade to CentOS 5.9, all my CentOS 5 installations report only "Unmatched Entries" in the "yum" section of their daily logwatch mails. It seems the filter script /usr/share/logwatch/scripts/services/yum got broken: --------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8< [root at dns01 ~]# /usr/sbin/logwatch --print --service yum

Quote the path of graphics output in Sweave when it contains spaces
Hi, I'm aware of the definition of a "valid filename" in .SweaveValidFilenameRegexp, but I think it might be better to quote the filename when it contains spaces instead of just giving a warning. This should bring us safer LaTeX code (although I never use spaces in paths). Here is the simple patch: Index: src/library/utils/R/SweaveDrivers.R

Long Delays Displaying Small Folders in Windows Explorer (samba-3.0.10-1 FC2)
Hi, I'm trying to replace a windows fileserver server with a Fedora Core 2 samba server in our Windows 2000 ADS domain. A performance problem occurs when accessing certain samba shares from Windows Explorer on either an Windows XP or a W2K client machine. It can take up to a minute for explorer to list files in a share folder containing only a few files! It eventually does, but but reports

Dialing out of a voicemail message?
Anyway to make hitting `0` during a voice mail dial an extension? The bosses used to have that feature and love it. Their VM prompt would say: "Hello, My name is blah blah. I am currently unavailable. If you would like to speak to an operator press 0 now, otherwise leave me a message". Extension 0 exists, but dialing it during a VM prompt does nothing. Thanks, -- Daniel Jimenez

Switching to production environment
Hey All, I can''t seem to find a straight answer, but I was wondering if someone could provide me with a simple explanation of switching to the production environment. It looks like I could just alter environments.rb under /config, but that seems like a hack. How would I go about getting my application running in the production environment? Cheers, Eric Czarny

[PATCH 0 of 5] v2: Nested-p2m cleanups and locking changes
This patch series tidies up a few bits ofthe nested p2m code. The main thing it does is reorganize the locking so that most of the changes to nested p2m tables happen only under the p2m lock, and the nestedp2m lock is only needed to reassign p2m tables to new cr3 values. Changes since v1: - a few minor fixes - more sensible flushing policy in p2m_get_nestedp2m() - smoke-tested this time!

Advice needed --- Best way to get mysql2 gem installed to interact with Mysql Database?
Hi Group, I''ve got mysql database installed and the server running on a Mac Pro with latest mountain lion setup 10.8.3. I''m able to use mysql tools like mysql, mysqladmin to converse with it. :} I use RVM''s scripts to fetch gems. I''ve visited RVM''s website but their advise to get "mysql gem loaded" does the same thing as below aborted
