Default ICMP rate limiting changes from 5.4 to 6.x?
Hello all, I'm trying to figure out why my smokeping installation using fping probes now seems to get periodic loss. It's very minor and only affects the fping probe type. Without centering too much on smokeping details, was there any sort of default rate limiting changed in the ICMP settings going from FreeBSD 5.4 to 6.0? The problem happens across every monitor and started exactly

Routing of outgoing packets
Hi! I am trying to use hping to chek the latency of our network. Somehow things are not going to plan and I thought someone might be able to shed some light on the subject. Here is the setup: (the IP addresses gvien here are fake, but they do represent the correct state of the networking setup) vlan interface IP mask V2 eth0 192.168.20.20 32

Centos 6.5 - Fping - SE Linux - Missing type enforcement (TE) allow rule
Hi gents, I seem to have a small issue with fping and Observium(a monitoring solution). The particular VPS I'm using does have SELinux enabled and it seems to be causing issues when the httpd process is attempting to use Fping? Here is what I know so far : Output from "audit2why -a" : --------------- type=AVC msg=audit(1414265994.125:6744): avc: denied { create } for

using fping to find missing A records
I have a specific question on how to do something, and a larger question addressing other "better" ways to do the spirit of what I'm asking. I'm setting up Nagios, and am trying to make sure that all of the subnets have A records, as IP addresses will be changing very, very rapidly, and when that day comes, I will not be here (but on another Nagios project). So, I'd like to

Fping-appreciate some help please
Chaps, First post so be gentle-I have a specific app I use for network testing called Fping http://www.kwakkelflap.com/fping.html. It all works in WIndows but I'm trying to make the cross-over into Linux and this is a tool I use on a daily basis, hence the need to make it work I did ask on the Ubuntu forums but got short shrift, being told I should use the built in PING tool-fair comment but

why results from regression tree (rpart) are totally inconsistent with ordinary regression
Hi, In my analysis of impacts of insecticide-treated bednets on malaria, I look at the relationship between malaria incidence and mosquito behaviors. The condensed data set is copied here. Ordinary regression (lm) shows that Incidence was negatively related to Mortality. This makes sense because the latter reflected the strength of killing mosquitoes by insecticide-treated nets. Since the

ts model challenge (transfer function)
Dear useRs, I am trying to model a time series with a transfer function. I think it can be put into the ARMA framework, and estimated with the 'arima' function (and others have made similar comments on this list). I have tried to do that, but the results have so far been disappointing. Maybe I am trying to make 'arima' do something it can't... The data are time series of

smokeping on CentOS questions
I'm having some problems getting CentOS to serve up my Smokeping pages ( http://oss.oetiker.ch/smokeping/) However, I'm having problems getting the pages to serve up correctly. Here is a quick run down of what I've done. (1) wget and untar to /usr/local/smokeping (2) chown -R root:root /usr/local/smokeping (3) modifying to the following files to reflect my environment (not sure if

lmer binomial model overestimating data?
Hi folks, Warning: I don't know if the result I am getting makes sense, so this may be a statistics question. The fitted values from my binomial lmer mixed model seem to consistently overestimate the cell means, and I don't know why. I assume I am doing something stupid. Below I include code, and a binary image of the data is available at this link:

Ubuntu feisty: trouble with vmware-player host-guest access...
I post here this ''user'' triuble because i suppose it came from some strange kernel (mis)configuration. I''ve just upgrade from edgy to feisty, and the communication between guest and host in bridge mode stop working. And in a rather, at least for me, strange way. I can ping from host to guest: root@host:~# ping guest PING guest (10.5.2.120) 56(84) bytes of data. 64
