installing centOS5.5
Want to install CentOS 5.5 by burning the image on DVD. On the link: http://mirrors.hns.net.in/centos/5.5/isos/x86_64/, there is a list given. CentOS-5.5-x86 64-bin-DVD.torrent is in the list. free space created during partitioning while installing CentOS5.5
I installed CentOS5.5 on Dell Inspiron N5010. During partitioning, when I created swap = 6GB then additional 4MB free space was created and when I created ext3 for linux=217GB, then additional 7MB free space was created. Didn't understand why these 2 extra free spaces were created. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

centos5.5 text install forcing me to add all disks to LVM volgroup
Graphic installer doesn't like my graphics card, so I am using the text installer. I have two physical disks in my system. When I get to the "partitioning type" page, I choose "remove all partitions on selected drives [etc]" and put an asterisk next to sda, no asterisk next to sdb. I want to use sdb as a separate partition, no LVM, I figure I can set it up after

LDAP/Autofs instructions are conflicting in Centos5.3
Hi, I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place, so if this belongs more on another list, please let me know. I am trying to get Autofs configured to use LDAP on CentOS5.3, but am running into an inconsitency. On CentOS5.3, the openldap server is installed with an extra schema/redhat/autofs.schema file. From what I can tell, that schema file seems to follow RFC2307bis. In the

updating centOS5.3
I have centOS5.3 installed in the system. I have never updated it but now am planning to update. While doing "yum update", is there any possibility that the update might hamper the execution of any software/application installed on the system? Is there anything particular to note before updating the system? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

We successfully installed the 3-CD set of CentOS-3 on a laptop this weekend.
