mount NFS share over specific nic?
I have a new server with multiple nics running Centos 6.2 and I'd like to force all NFS traffic over one nic. We're using FreeNAS to dish out NFS shares and I have different IPs on my 2 nics but how can I get the server to mount the share over one particular nic? Or is there a better way to do it? Thanx, Russell Smithies

Trouble getting Roline/Powercom UPS recognized
Hi all, I’m new to NUT and have some trouble getting my new UPS to work. Since the HCL listed Powercom UHID models as „green“ I thought buying a Roline (German rebranded Powercom) model would be a good idea. The OS is FreeBSD: FreeBSD freenas-pmh.local 11.2-STABLE FreeBSD 11.2-STABLE #0 r325575+6aad246318c(HEAD): Mon Jun 24 17:25:47 UTC 2019 root at

Fwd: Liebert PSA UPS problem.
Hi all, Sorry for the delay - three business trips abroad and LOTS of head scratching with USB Keys and DVD's of SuSE and FreeBSD... The question about the USB reports from Windows is still unanswered (I am abroad again !), but *think* the Liebert driver had been stopped. I can report the following updates for my linux setups; SuSE/FreeBSD/FreeNAS [remember here I am trying to make nut

UPS on Freenas
Dear Sir or Ma'am, I have set-up a very functional NAS in my home using Freenas 0.7.2.5543. I had problems when losing power to the NAS. When I'd power it back on, my Raid 5 array and other disks would say that it was not properly dismounted, until I erased the disks, reformatted and remounted. The problem would then go away. I have since put an UPS between my NAS and the power to

FreeNAS/Samba Group Permissions with LDAP
I'm not sure if this is an LDAP issue, a Samba issue, a BSD issue or a FreeNAS issue... I'm working at migrating a large block of file shares from an aging CentOS/Samba 3.0.9 server to a FreeNAS (8.0.2) server. (The FreeNAS box is running FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE-p3 and Samba 3.5.11.) I will eventually be migrating the entire domain and user base off of that server, but for the time being, I

Power Down ESXi before SAN
I have 2 APC UPS systems, one is connected to my ESXi host and the other to my FreeNAS. The battery for the FreeNAS will run out before the battery for the ESXi, so I need ESXi to shutdown first. If I wait until BatteryLow on ESXI, it will be too late as FreeNAS will have already shutdown. How can I change the configuration on ESXI to shutdown after a small delay so that it is done before

CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel SAN Target
For quite some time I?ve been using FreeNAS to provide services as a NAS over ethernet and SAN over Fibre Channel to CentOS 7 servers each using their own export, not sharing the same one. It?s time for me to replace my hardware and I have a new R720XD that I?d like to use in the same capacity but configure CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel target rather than use FreeNAS any further. I?m doing

[OT] Network Attached Storage
Hello, Been thinking about either purchasing one of these or building my own. This will be for home use. I was looking at the QNAP 451+ or building (DYI NAS) one with FreeNAS. I also found that CentOS has a NAS project. Not sure which way to go. They would cost about the same. One would be proprietary and the other open source. I like open source. This for home use. Thought I'd start out

Issue with apcupsd-ups?
Hello;I just came across NUT, testing FreeNAS/FreeBSD. I?m running at home a APC UPS connected to another computer, running apcupsd. I found out that NUT didn't talk by default to apcupsd, and there was a driver created relatively recently (apcupsd-ups), which filled in that gap. The version I found on my FreeBSD/FreeNAS system seems to imply that there is more to come to that driver (0.04)

Really small Linux and NAS
I have a really nice, old Libretto 110. Only 64Mb memory. I want to put Linux on it and have a network monitoring system and a traveling NAS. But all of the NASs have seemed to have grown beyond their original 64Mb size (FreeNAS now needs 128Mb). Only thing I have found is: http://www.linux-watch.com/news/NS8289526009.html Talking about Unbutu 6.0 and the 'Server' install that can

TLS ca/cert/key creation
I'm working to put up a production FeeeNAS box tied to Samba/AD for authentication for users connecting to the FreeNAS share(s). In joining FreeNAS to the AD domain, one immediately runs into "problems" with TLS/encryption. Samba, in the defaults requires TLS. I could disable TLS security in Samba, but that's probably not a great idea. So, I'll need a key/cert for the

APC Back-UPS CS and ES series
I'm using FreeNAS 9.1, and I've just got an APC Back-UPS CS 500. In theory it's supported by NUT, but the latest released version (2.6.5) doesn't have support for it (the driver reports an error, which is apparently due to an overflow). According to a thread on the mailing list, Back-UPS ES series requires a fix that's in source control, and CS series requires an additional
