drbspec - "no server running"
At times I''ve gotten the message "No Server Running" from drbspec with my rails app. The thing is, the drb server certainly is running! This happened a few times with my model specs. I''m not sure exactly what the problem was there - I believe I was loading up fixtures that didn''t exist. I was calling fixtures :singular_table_name as opposed to

Isolating rails model specs from their implementation
I''m currently taking a Rails project management app I built when learning Rails and adding specs to it. During the course of building the app the requirement that project should be archiveable was added. So a project is in one of two states active or archived. This led to the creation of the following methods: Project.active_projects Project.archived_projects @project.active?

Issues with 0.7.5
I installed 0.7.5 and the corresponding Rails plugin. Now it seems that the rake command is: rake spec:autotest I immediately ran into several problems: 1. rspec_autotest.rb line 30 has curly quotes and makes Ruby choke 2. Same line, rails_spec is spelled solid, when it should have the underscore But fixing these didn''t get me back going. Now I have to have a rails_spec_server

Scope and specing models
Hello all, I''m currently having an issue with some specs, specifically scope issues (probably more of a scope issue than a spec issue at this point)... Here''s the error: ActiveRecord::AssociationTypeMismatch in ''A new User should know what role it has'' Role expected, got NilClass D:/ruby/projects/restful_authentication_test/config/../app/models/role.rb:5:in

removing Mocha; 'spec spec' fails but the specific model file passes
I happened to mix ryan bates'' authentication scaffold with rspec_scaffold on a demo project. and ran into the problem of mixing mock frameworks...ryan uses mocha. So, as a learning experience, I choose to redo ryan''s tests without mocha but ran into a strange problem with tests of the User model. With debugging you can see.... If you run just the user_spec.rb file, everything

reby-debug and rspec
How do I use the ruby debugger with a specific test (not the whole spec file)? I want to do something like this. $ rdebug spec/models/user_spec.rb -s "should error if not new_record" ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? DRb error when using rails_spec on OS X
Hi, all- I started playing with RSpec in a new Rails app. I''ve installed the plugin and bootstrapped it, and run ''script/rails_spec_runner'' (not rails_spec_server as the website currently reads, btw) in a separate shell, then in another shell I run ''script/rails_spec'' and get the following: /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/drb/drb.rb:837:in

Sqlite3, in-memory db and rspec_server
Hi everyone. I can''t get the above(subject line) combination to work. If I use a standard sqlite3 file db for the test db, and spec_server all the specs on my models pass. If I use an in-memory db for the test db, script/spec w/o spec_server, they all pass. But if I use in-memory and spec_server I get the following error: 1) ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid in ''User should be

Not running correct specs under autotest:
I know this isn''t autotest-users but I''m not sure where else to bring this up: [["app/controllers/contents_controller.rb", Wed Jun 04 14:11:03 +0100 2008]] [["app/controllers/contents_controller.rb", Wed Jun 04 14:11:03 +0100 2008]] /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/bin/ruby -S script/spec -O spec/spec.opts spec/models/user_spec.rb

autotest displays no output
Hey, I''m trying to configure autotest with rspec on cygwin but something is going wrong. I made a very simple testing environment with a user.rb and user_spec.rb file. Rspec works fine, but autotest outputs nothing - it just stays here, idle. ^C doesn''t display anything more. I can see it''s running because I added require ''autotest/snarl'' in my

rspec failure upon revisit
I just returned from a different project after taking a few weeks off of my tutorial. I''m using Ruby on Rails 3 Tutorial - Learn Rails by Example by Michael Hartl. After rebooting my server I ran an rspec spec/ command to check to see if there were any problems and this is what I received. I didn''t modify anything except I did overwrite users_controller.rb and

Collection proxies need to be stubbed ?
Hi all ! I just started writing specs on a new project. I would just like to validate that this is the way you would write it. I know about mocks, stubs and expectations. I don''t think this is a problem for me. My question really boils down to: def index @projects = current_user.projects.active end My spec needs to return the proxy, no ? Here''s my code: context "A

running rspec on 1.2.3 ??
Hi, Anyone know how to run rspec on 1.2.3? It fails out of the box.... I newly downloaded rspec, rspec_on_rails and ran the command ruby script/generate rspec ==>>> Does this script work right? from the instructions http://rspec.info/documentation/rails/install.html I then created the directories in spec: controllers, fixtures, helpers, models, views I then created the

RCov results seem to include the spec files
I saw the RCov page at http://rspec.rubyforge.org/tools/rcov.html and decided to add it to my project. My rakefile looks like this: require "rake" require "spec/rake/spectask" desc "Run all specs with RCov" Spec::Rake::SpecTask.new("spec:rcov") do |t| t.spec_files = FileList["spec/**/*_spec.rb"] t.rcov = true end When I run rake spec:rcov,

testing modules
I''ve developed a module to include in ActiveRecord derived classes. Can I test the module without having to tie it to a particular class? atm, I''m including it in my User class and writing the tests in user_spec.rb, but I don''t like the idea of tying the module tests to those of the class. I may extract the specs to a shared description and include that in the specs for
