CentOS 5.5 : Installing Sources where they are visible to system(VBOX driver install)
I have installed the source rpms on CentOS 5.5 due to virtualbox upgrade not functioning. (the old one that comes with centos works fine, however, I wanted to newer one.) Whenever I run the driver installation script it fails with an indication that it could not find the sources. How do I correct the issue with the system not seeing the installed source rpms? -- Respectfully, Martes G

Xen Install manager won't let me install anything.
Greetings all. I am attempting to install dom-u guests on a vanilla install of Centos 5.6. I am attempting to use the Xen Manager and it 1) won't let me choose ANYTHING but network install, which is quite odd to say the least, and 2) won't let my freebsd install iso complete. I am a novice with Xen, however, it doesn't make sense even in the most minimally supported system that

Centos 7 kworker uses 100% of single core on mulit-core processor usage inquiry
Greetings again everyone. Can someone please respond to this? I am not sure what is causing this issue, however, others seem to have experienced it in the past. Could this be caused by the processor being damaged? Nothing has changed on the system, except for the heat warning shutoff when the water cooler died, and the system was not restarted until the new one was installed. Any input

hostname on centos 7.1
Greetings everyone. I have some CentOS 7 VMs running on the system for which I just made the inquiry about the kworker problem, and I was able to institute immediate change of hostname by updating the /etc/hostname file. I have network manager running on the host, as well, and it also has the name populated in this file. When I make the change in /etc/hostname, it takes immediate effect, and

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-) I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader, pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine, xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I used them happily. I am mostly

With ktorrent? No idea. Didn't even think of checking that one out. //Sorin Sent from my tablet, please excuse the brevity. Jeff Allison <jeff.allison at allygray.2y.net> wrote: What's missing? kworker 100% of single core on mulit-core processor usage inquiry
Greetings everyone. I am experiencing the kworker issue where a kworker is using 100% of a given core. This behavior was only observed after having installed a new water cooler, to replace a cooler that had died. (Sealed closed loop device from Corsair) The processor is staying around 40 degrees celsius as reported by the MB UEFI interface. (ksysguard shows between 29 degrees and 30 degrees,

Oh, well, there's no coulmns I can find to show various speed, trackers used, remaining time, ot able to sort on name, speed etc. Basically it's the gui I don't like. It's fine otherwise and does its job excellent. -- /Sorin ________________________________________ From: centos-bounces at centos.org [centos-bounces at centos.org] on behalf of Jeff Allison [jeff.allison at

Invalid characters when dealing with Japanese language
So I'm running uTorrent through Wine and it works for just about every download, but some downloads, particularly ones with files with Japanese characters in them, screw things up. uTorrent reports "Error: Invalid Name" in the status of the torrent, and I noticed that the files being downloaded have been replaced with a bunch of question marks where Japanese characters should be. cobbler installation of CentOS-5.5
I'm trying to install CentOS-5.5 on my new HP micro-server, which has no CD drive. I've set up cobbler and cobbler-web on my old server, and can access cobbler-web from my laptop. I have 3 queries about the installation. 1. Is there any advantage is using the 64-bit CentOS rather than 32-bit? 2. The CentOS OS seems to be available in 7 or 8 CDs. (I tried downloading the DVD ISO with

Simple CDRs w/Asterisk/OpenSER.
Suggestions on how to use Asterisk to collect CDRs from a OpenSER-based proxy / call routing setup? I need to get simple CDRs; not for detailed settlement/rating, but just for reconciliation with an ultimate TDM carrier just to make sure we only get billed for what we're actually using. I'd use the often-heralded approach of dumping a call from OpenSER into Asterisk and having it

Non-english character issue with uTorrent
I am using utorrent to use torrents from a particular torrent site which I haven't been able to make their torrents work with KTorrent. I have an issue with one of them, when I attempt to save it in utorrent I get "Unable to save .torrent to C:\...\Kein Blick zurLck.torrent". I believe that this is caused by the cyrillic character in the name, which replaces the German "?"

qemu -display sdl,gl=on also eats CPU
I was testing Ilia's patches for ddx, and while they definitely helped for Xorg itself, qemu still eats a lot of CPU if launched like this qemu-system-x86_64 -cdrom ~/Downloads/ISO/slax-English-US-7.0.8-x86_64.iso -m 1G -display sdl,gl=on -enable-kvm and left for few hours. top - 07:38:01 up 18:05, 2 users, load average: 2,00, 1,89, 1,83 Tasks: 224 total, 3 running, 221 sleeping, 0

Accumulating CPU load from Xorg process with DRI3
I observed this bug for quite some time, but so far I workarounded it with just setting DRI2 (default) in xorg.conf.d/20-nouveau.conf Now with two GPU i iwsh to use DRI3, so right now it set up like this: cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nouveau.conf Section "Device" Identifier "Card0" Driver "nouveau" Option "PageFlip" "1" #Option
