I have hda, sda and sdb but none are acceptable install media. How do I mount the USB stick while in the installer to install off it? DVD isn't an option because it's been

Installing Cent OS from a usb flash drive
I recently acquired a Fujitsu Lifebook 1610. Unfortunately, the machine was missing a lot of the stuff that would've come with it brand new, mainly the usb cdrom drive. Currently, I'm running Fedora on it, and I installed it using a usb flash drive with the help of a program called unetbootin(Probably not spelled right). to load the ISO onto the USB drive. I've successfully used

pen drive, hard disk, cd not being detected
I am working in Centos5.5. Pen drive, hard disk, cd are not being recognised. During booting, "mounting local filesystems [failed]" is displayed among other errors which I am unable to see as the messages proceed fast. Are these messages stored in some file, so that I can check them and report all the errors that are displayed during booting. -------------- next part -------------- An

Solaris 10 (9/10) on Xen 3.4
Hi, I am trying to run solaris 10 (9/10) on Xen 3.4 (centos5.5 as dom0) in HVM mode. I can see the realtek 8139 network adapters when I do pciscan but ''ifconfig -a'' just lists loopback device. I can load rtls drivers but still these realtek interfaces are not available. I found a link which does say The rtls driver from Realtek still uses version 0 interfaces that are now

installing centOS5.5
Want to install CentOS 5.5 by burning the image on DVD. On the link: http://mirrors.hns.net.in/centos/5.5/isos/x86_64/, there is a list given. CentOS-5.5-x86 64-bin-DVD.torrent is in the list. So is the download of the .iso possible only through torrent? There is CentOS-5.5-x86 64-netinstall.iso Is this also an .iso which one can download to install CentOS5.5? -------------- next part

Request for Wiki edit permission - booting into kickstart from all-in-one USB flash drive
I'm currently testing a process very similar to that found here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey And would like to update that doc with my observations once confirmed. Preliminary notes (not all relevant to that specific WikiPage - suggestions for where to put the non-kickstart info? First boot partition on USB is FAT32 and uses GRUB to chainload to the second ext2

suggestions for installing CentOS 5 via USB?
I'm having problems installing CentOS via a USB drive. First, I tried using Unetbootin, but with no avail. The 8MB netinstall doesn't work, and the big DVD image doesn't work either. http://lubi.sourceforge.net/unetbootin.html Then I tried this http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-centos-5-live-install-via-windows/ with a CentOS DVD file, and that did not work (just hangs). Grub, pata, and sata
I've just filed bug 0004634. Grub won't install onto my pata drive now that I have a sata drive installed. This is grub 0.97 on CentOS5.5. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm guessing that I can always install Fedora on hda, which should give me a working grub, but I was hoping for something a little less involved. Thanks, Dave Mackay
