hi i downloaded dovecot-1.0.beta1.tar.gz, did a rpmbuild -ta dovecot-1.0.beta1.tar.gz (which uses the dovecot.spec from the tar.gz), and got the following: Making install in quota make[3]: Entering directory `/usr/src/gimre/rpm2/BUILD/dovecot-1.0.beta1/src/plugins/quota' make[4]: Entering directory `/usr/src/gimre/rpm2/BUILD/dovecot-1.0.beta1/src/plugins/quota' mkdir -p --

porting spec files
An rpm intended for a bleeding edge Fedora builds perfectly for me when I comment two macros apparently not in CentOS 7 - %transfiletriggerin and %transfiletriggerun Looks like they operate similar to %post and %postun but are different. Is a simple way to do what they do in CentOS 7 or do I have to change the packaging logic to build in CentOS 7 and have things work properly? -- -=- Sent

Understanding RPM trigger scripts?
I'm trying to get my head around RPM trigger scripts - but currently getting very confused ... I have a custom RPM which has in its spec file a '%triggerin' script for the 'kernel' RPM - i.e. a script that I want to run when the kernel RPM is upgraded/installed This works OK - once my custom RPM is installed, if the kernel is subsequently upgraded/installed, my trigger

64-bit CentOS - your experience
Hello, one of our developers is developing his Web applications (PHP-based+MySql) on 64-bit Fedora. He would like to use the same, 64-bit environment on CentOS. I am not against 64-bits (we use it for many, many years using Solaris) but what concerns me is the stability of 64-bit Linux. Can you share your experience regarding stability of 32-bit and 64-bit CentOS ? Does anybody use 64-bit CentOS

'yum update' rollback or .. ?
Hello, we have several physical servers (CentOS 5.*) with rather critical applications where (because of stability) we don't do regularly 'yum update'. In virtualized environemnts (under Vmware) we do a snapshot, then 'yum update', reboot and if something is wrong we rollback the snapshot. On physical servers we cannot do that. I have read about rollback option of rpm but not

Centos under (vmware vs KVM)
Hello, we are using several centos servers under Vmware. We are having more and more requests for server space for each business application (let assume that these business requests are for different type of services: databases, web apps, application servers etc. I wonder which solution is better: 1. new CentOS under vmware (having several CentOS servers under Vmware) or 2. new CentOS under KVM

yum update / kernal update failed - remove or repair
I have a VPS running C7. I ran a 'yum update' which included a kernel update. The yum update wasn't a total success because mariadb updates failed. However everything else appeared to work. However, when I rebooted the server it did not restart. I have managed to get the ISP's support desk to boot the server by selecting the previous kernel, and I now have access to my box again.

Trying to re-install ZFS drivers
What should have been a routine upgrade to ZFS 0.6.4.1-1.el6.x86_64 somehow failed, and now I've lost access to a 2T raidz2 array. I've tried removing all zfs and related packages (spl*), then starting fresh. For reasons that have have nothing to do with this problem (I don't think), I'm still booted to kernel 2.6.32-431.29.2.el6.x86_64, and there are no other kernels installed.
