Tomcat Monitoring
What do you use for monitoring your Apache Tomcat servers? I have used jconsole to manually connect and look at the statistics. I'm wondering if there are any standard tools for watching the health of the java process. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Apache jserv monitoring?
In our environment we have many legacy application servers running apache/jserv. There is a web server front end, then a couple of load-balanced java servers on the backside. One of the problems we are faced with is hung or stuck jvms. I have looked at the java process with the ps command, and there are many times when URL(s) do not respond, yet the java looks healthy, at least from the OS

CentOS server running java - won't let go of swap
I'm monitoring some CentOS 5 servers running Sun Java. We have set things up so 2048 MB of RAM are available for the base operating system, taking into account the xMx and permgen settings. What we're seeing is the swap space getting used up, and not released. Is this normal behavior? Performance doesn't seem to be affected, however I'm a bit concerned that the swap file is

tomcat still sees jvm version 1.4.2 in Cent OS 5
i chose to install tomcat during the OS install as well as java....however, since I needed to use a different jvm, i used the method described in http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS for Sun jdk 1.5.0_13 and it worked fine as I can tell, as using the alternatives --config java command, i see both 1.4.2 and 1.5.0 versions and choosing the 1.5.0 version yields the right version when doing a

redirecting outside connections to https on apache
Hi friends, There are about 15 applications hosted on different in our infrastructure mostly running on apache/iis/tomcat. We have a frontend apache server running on Centos 4.4 64bit which make these applications accessible to outside world. For the applications which are running on tomcat we are running jkmount to make these applications available without mentioning tomcat ports. For

Centos 4.3/ 64-bit: Java/ Tomcat Optimization
Hi, I have been steadily migrating machines, about 50-70 of them to Centos 4.3, mostly using Opteron Dual Core/ Tyan boxes of Supermicro origin. They perform apache, mysql, tomcat and qmail work, depending where they exist The main reason from the programmer side (i'm a sysadmin/ engineer) is the larger "heap size" to satisfy some of the needs. Since Java/Tomcat applications can

Java+Tomcat on CentOS 6.x
So whats good practice for installing Java/JDK and Tomcat for EL6 these days? The base repository included Tomcat6.6 is built with GCJ which I'd rather avoid. I'm fine with using OpenJDK ... Do most folks just use the Apache tarball for Tomcat and install it in a user directory or /opt/something ? -- john r pierce N 37, W 122 santa cruz ca

Error: mremap_anon(###) failed: Cannot allocate memory
We're running dovecot 2.2.15 with pigeonhole 0.4.6, in a clustered environment, nfs with proxy and backend on all servers. I've been seeing some odd errors from lmtp: Error: mremap_anon(127930368) failed: Cannot allocate memory It seems to affect specific users, but it doesn't seem to manifest in any particular way; no user complaints. Just the occasional log message. I would

Charts and Java servers
Hi, As a long time Java/J2EE exponent I wanted to give Rails a fair crack of the whip and after we evaluated it for several weeks I have to say I like it. The installation process for the base system/framework is straightforward on the two platforms we''ve tried (Windows and Mac OS X). However, the charting components available, relying on ImageMagick or GraphicsMagick seem less clear

Wiki Access Request for Java How To's
Hello, My name is Sean Gilligan (wikiname: SeanGilligan) and I'd like to contribute to the CentOS wiki. Initially I'd like to do some documentation for Java (OpenJDK) on CentOS 5.3. I've used Fedora for years, but am getting tired of the obsolescence that keeps happening. I'm also very excited about having an integrated Java that I can use for actual server deployments. I
