Acroread9 crash in CentOS7
Hello,
I'm getting a crash with acroread on my CentOS7 (AdobeReader_enu-9.5.5-1.i486).
I install the official rpms from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/,
tried 9.5.5, and former v9, v8, v7.
/usr/bin/acroread loads well, but when you click a menu, bang. Same if
you start acroread w/ a .pdf filename in parameter, the window opens up
then crashes.
I modified the acroread script to

Problems with yum/rpm and %pre scriptlet error 255
I am running xen (2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1) on top of a stock CentOS-4.4
installation. I have not added any additional virtual machines however.
When trying to install (as root) acrobat reader 7 for Linux from the adobe
rpm (AdobeReader_enu.i386 7.0.8-1) I get the following errors:
error: %pre(AdobeReader_enu-7.0.8-1.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 255

gluster permissions problem
Hi,
I'm running a very simple gluster server, as a NFSv4 replacement. I
documented this here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/users at lists.fedoraproject.org/msg40298.html
User home folders are served over this file server.
This worked fine in Fedora 15, but I am experiencing some odd
permissions problems with Adobe Acrobat after upgrading the server to
Fedora 16. I've seen it with some

Acrobat Reader 9 on Centos 4.7
Hello,
Anyone know how to get Acrobat 9 running* on Centos 4.7?
Looks like a libc conflict:
/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/bin/acroread: error while loading shared \
libraries: /apps/Adobe/Reader9_libs/libstdc++.so.6: requires glibc 2.5 or later dynamic linker
Thanks

Adobe Reader 7.0.8 on x86_64 system
Hi Everyone,
[yes, this is about a proprietary product, but I'm just asking for some
tips/pointers]
Has anyone tried installing the new Adobe Reader (7.0.8) RPM from Adobe
on a CentOS 4.3 x86_64 box? I just attempted an upgrade from
AdobeReader_enu-7.0.1-1 (also RPM install), and I'm getting this error:
error: Failed dependencies:

vertify which software for missing dependenies
Hi,
I'm trying to install RPM package Adobe Reader on Centos 6. I did a rpm -test -ivh on the package and it says it needs dependencies (many)
Is a there a command to verify which exact packages it requires so I wont be installing software blindly.
missing dependencies:

libatk-1.0.so.0 is needed by AdobeReader_enu-9.4.2-1.i486

Lost Acroread and flash plugin
Since the upgrade to AdobeReader_enu-9.1.0-1.i486.rpm and
flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-release.i386.rpm, I have lost these in firefox.
And Adobe Reader is not even on my Gnome Applications panel, I have to
run it from a terminal window.
Perhaps this has been covered, but how do I get these back?

acroread = resource hog
Any have trouble with acroread taking up massive cpu and memory?
I exited my Firefox browser and the lil bastard was still hogging up
my resources.
Took up 69% of 4GB, and wouldn't let go, until a kill -9 showed'em,
have to do it every time I open a pdf in firefox.
Any use Xpdf or something else?

Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.3 - slightly OT
I've noticed recently that the latest version of Adobe's Acrobat
Reader (9.3) has a really annoying tendency to stop for 30-60 seconds
shortly after it starts up to read/display a PDF file. I don't see
this on my Windows copies, just on CentOS.
Anyone know what's up with that?
Thanks.

Support for AdobeReader on Linux ended more than 4 years ago. It would
be better to use evince, atril or okular.

Acrobat Reader broken on CentOS 4.3
I have had Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.1 installed on my CentOS 4.2 desktop
and it worked fine. After upgrading to 4.3, I can't get it to come up
anymore. I downloaded Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and it does the same. I'd
appreciate any suggestions on what to look for, since the executable and
the startup scripts are not giving me any useful errors to chase.

acroread 8 on CentOS-4 (was for SL4)
I know acroread is not part of CentOS but many people use it. Thought
forwarding this post on the SciLinux mailing list might help those who
use acroread on CentOS-4.
=== excerpt ===
The "latest" version officially compatible with RHEL4 is acroread-7.0.9,
but this currently has open security holes (CVE-2007-5663 et al).

Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Shadi,
I'm also using notes 5.0.12 and I've posted at May,05-2005 a
message just talking about how to start Linux apps from a Windows app
over/under Wine. The only problem is that I'm not using wine-20050524 ...
8-(. Instead I'm using 20040813.
Follows the message. Feel free to ask me more questions and if you
want I can send to you another types of scripts.

acrobat reader for x86_64?
Adobe doesn't seem to have acroread for x86_64 linux, or at least I don't
see it anywhere.
Anybody know otherwise?
Evince and other tools work pretty well, but I have always liked having
the "real thing" around for those occasions when they don't.

AcroRead failing miserably in CentOS 5.0
I could swear that this was working just last week, but now when I run
the Adobe Acrobat reader, it hangs. If I run it "directly"
(/usr/bin/acroread) with -DEBUG as the first argument, I get an
infinite loop of:
expr: syntax error
I tried removing and reinstalling it, but no change.
Any ideas?

Hi Andreas,
I saw someone (Mike or Joachim, I think) at the list saying you
have to shutdown the wineserver. It will overwrite the system.reg as soon
it goes down. So before you make the changes be sure there is none wine*
process running.
Hope this helps. If not, write us again and we'll help you

acoread 9 slow printing
We use acroread on Centos 5 to print 11x17 plates for a printing press on a HP
Laserjet 5100.
acroread 8 (AdobeReader_enu-8.1.2-1.i486.rpm) prints a plate in between 60 and
90 seconds.
acroread 9 (AdbeRdr9.1.0-1_i486linux_enu.rpm) prints the same plate in 10 to 15
minutes.
I've tried this with several different PDF files and it's always the same
result. Hooking the printer up with a

Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524
Hello all,
I have installed R5.0.12 on Red Hat Fedora Core 3, using Wine 20050524. I'm
getting a lot of FIXME messages but everything seems to be working fine.
Except for the following things:
1) Attachments are working fine, except for launching the attachment to
open directly in OpenOffice.org or Adobe Reader ... Most likely that this
is a WINE issue rather than a Lotus Notes/Under Wine
