fixing partition alignment ?
Hi there,
I've discovered that most of the hard drives used in our cluster got
misaligned partitions, thus crippling perfs. Is there any way to fix
that without having to delete/recreate properly aligned partitions, then
format it and refill disks ?
I'd be glad not to have to toy with moving several 10s of TB disk by
disk :D (most disks are JBOD as we're using a fault tolerant network

CTDB and locking issues in 4.4.6 (Classic domain)
> *phew*! At least it's not a regression by the patches for bug 12005.
Hi Ralph,
Looking back through the changelogs suggests to me that it's been around
a long time....
I did however find it odd that even after disabling the 3rd host,
stopping ctdb everywhere and removing *all* the db files (including
persistent) I still could reproduce on 4.4.5.

clustered file system of choice
Hi all,
I am just trying to consider my options for storing a large mass of
data (tens of terrabytes of files) and one idea is to build a
clustered FS of some kind. Has anybody had any experience with that?
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
Boris.

WGCNA package installation segmentation fault
Hi all,
a user contacted me about a segfault when installing WGCNA package
dowloaded from CRAN. I also see a segfault like that on certain
installs of R.
The package passes all CRAN checks, so presumably this has something
to do with the R installation or environment. The R versions here are
not the newest but I would guess that this is not an R version issue.
I'm attaching two

Many "Error: Corrupted index cache file /XXX/dovecot.index.cache: invalid record size"
Hi all,
I just joigned this list, so I'm sorry if this problem has already been
reported.
I'm running Dovecot 2.0.13 on many servers, one for POP/IMAP access,
others for LDA, others for authentification only, etc.
All servers are accessing a shared file system, based on MooseFS
(www.moosefs.org). The FS is mounted using FUSE.
All my Dovecot servers have this configuration :

Storage cluster advise, anybody?
Dear Experts,
I would like to ask everybody: what would you advise to use as a storage
cluster, or as a distributed filesystem.
I made my own research of what I can do, but I hit a snag with my
seemingly best choice, so I decided to stay away from it finally, and ask
clever people what they would use.
My requirements are:
1. I would like to have one big (say, comparable to petabyte)

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Hey guys,
I got another "reboot crash" with gfapi and this time libvirt-3.2.1
(from cbs.centos.org). Is there anyone who can audit the libgfapi
usage in libvirt? :-)
WK: I use bonded 2x10Gbps and I do get crashes only in heavy I/O
situations (fio). Upgrading system (apt-get dist-upgrade) was ok, so
this might be even related to amount of IOPS.

XFS-in-a-file
Hello listmates,
Has anybody attempted to run an XFS in a file mounted via -o loop? The file
size is about 20 TB and it resides in a larger XFS filesystem residing on a
disk. That filesystem's size is about 25 TB. What sort of degradation
should one expect under that sort of scenario?
The reason I am asking is that I am trying to run a MooseFS chunkserver in
that filesystem-in-a-file and
