autotest displays no output
Hey, I''m trying to configure autotest with rspec on cygwin but something is
going wrong.
I made a very simple testing environment with a user.rb and user_spec.rb
file. Rspec works fine, but autotest outputs nothing - it just stays here,
idle. ^C doesn''t display anything more.
I can see it''s running because I added require ''autotest/snarl'' in my

How NOT to have a disk recognized by grub?
Greetings:
I'm upgrading a fileserver running 3.4 (upgrade to a larger disk). I
backed up the data from the "old" disk and slapped in a newer, larger
disk and installed Centos-3.4. No problems.
Now, there are some files on the "old" disk that I forgot to move to the
back-up disk, so I'd like to mount the "old" disk as /dev/hdd and reboot
the system and

Problem with booting/grub (?)
Earlier this evening, I had the interesting experience of shutting down
my machine (because of that lp out-of-sync problem, discussed
elsewhere), and watching it not come back up. I admit that I changed
out one of my DVD writers for another one, but I don't understand how
that could have had any effect on this:
When I restarted the machine, it came up to the point where it normally

A puzzle with grub-install
I ran into a problem when using grub-install experimentally
in what is obviously a foolish way,
since I was unable to boot the machine afterwards.
I got round the problem, as I shall explain,
but I'm still interested to know why the problem arose.
Having added a second hard disk to my CentOS-6.5 server,
as an experiment I gave the command
grub-install /dev/sdb
after checking (with fdisk)

Nope. 100% kernel panic, right around the time it switches root. I even
rebuilt the initramfs, nope.
And speaking of kernel panics, has *anyone* ever considered that all the
data dumped to the console

My server won't boot (grub looping - stage2)
Hi,
This morning one of my servers (centos 4.5) refused to boot. The console
shows a lopp message grub loading stage2...
I've been able to boot from the install CD choosing the rescue option. I
can chroot /mnt/sysimage with no problems and even started the services
(network, mysql , httpd etc).
How can I solve this?
I've followed the manual (

Compact Flash, EXT3, and IDE - a bad idea?
Hi All,
I'm currently running an embedded linux system (arm) with a CF card mounted as EXT3. I'll copy some system details below... Anyway, I'm getting some drive errors and I'm wondering if they're due to bad/old drivers, something with EXT3 and CF latency, or something else entirely.
These are the errors:
hda: write_intr error1: nr_sectors=1, stat=0x51

Grub, pata, and sata
I've just filed bug 0004634. Grub won't install onto my pata drive now
that I have a sata drive installed. This is grub 0.97 on CentOS5.5.
Has anyone else encountered this? I'm guessing that I can always
install Fedora on hda, which should give me a working grub, but I was
hoping for something a little less involved.
Thanks,
Dave Mackay

Darned thing is suddenly failing. We had a reboot last night, and I
changed a couple of files today too, so either one could somehow be
responsible. But I can''t figure out how from this crash. First I noticed
that my changes weren''t updating. Then I noticed that puppet wasn''t
running. Then I found that it won''t, in fact, run.
/selinux contains only a

I have change my disk from hdc to hda.
I need to change the LABEL information in grub.conf
so hda is / and not hdc.
Where is that.

Autotest and RSpect
I managed to have Autotest running on my windows box. Apparently all is
working but every time I know there is an error a new line is generated,
no error messages or anything is sent to the console.
I am using pastie now (thanks to David), please go to:

Can't get Grub work on clone of machine
Hi.
I have cloned a RHEL 5.6 physical server over to a ESXi 5.0 Virtual Machine.
Using a live CD on the new Virtual Machine I created 3 partition /boot
(/dev/sda1), / (/dev/sda2) and swap (/dev/sda3), I then mounted the /
(sda2) partition and created the /boot directory and mount the boot
partition partition /dev/sda1 into /boot. I then used rsync to copy
the source machine over to the Virtual

SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/chcon "mac_admin" access
CentOS-6.1 KVM guest on CentOS-6.1 host.
I am seeing this SEAlert in the /var/log/audit/audit.log

tell me what it means and what I should do about it? A
Google search reveals a number of Fedora issues with
similar errors dating back a few years; most of which seem
to have something to do with package ownership.

installing Nagios client with selinux enabled
Hi, I''m new to Puppet so may be going about this completely the wrong
way, or perhaps it is an selinux problem rather than a Puppet problem.
I have a problem copying a file and changing the seltype. I don''t
think it is Nagios specific. Code is something like:

chcon failed to change context Permission denied
Hi,
I'm confused, why can root not change context of a directory ?
I've moved a mysql dir from /var/lib to another drive.
But running sudo chcon -R -t mysqld_t ./mysql
Yields a screen full of messages such as
chcon: failed to change context of ?schema_table_lock_waits.frm? to
?system_u:object_r:mysqld_t:s0?: Permission denied
(and yes, mysql was shut down before the move and is till
