Firewalld zone conflict
Hi,
In CentOS7 I have added two zones using firewall-cmd, each for
different ports/services and interfaces when I try to --add-source to
the second zone with an IP that is already in the first I am getting an
'Error: ZONE_CONFLICT' message. Am I trying to do something illogical or
is this a feature?
Cheers,
Colin.

[OT] Label Printer Recommendations
Greetings Folks,
I am after any recommendations or experiences using Label printers to print
barcodes with CentOS, we currently using Star TSP700's but they're not clear
enough for the scanners we have. There seems to be plenty of choice but not
much Linux support going on, 'Never had anyone ask for Linux drivers
before..' seems to be the most common answer when trying to buy.

Centos 5.5, not booting latest kernel but older one instead
I've been going along not noticing things happening right under my nose.
so imagine my surprise when I discovered last night that my Centos 5 box
has installed multiple new kernels over the last few months, as updates
come out, and IT IS NOT BOOTING THE NEWST ONE.
grub.conf says to boot kernel 0, and 0 is the newest one. but the one it
actually boots is 6 or 8 down the list (clearly I've

194 Kernel Panic; 164 is Fine; How Do I Debug?
I have a machine that has worked fine for years on CentOS5.
kernel-PAE-2.6.18-164.15.1.el5 is the last "works fine" kernel, but
kernel-PAE-2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 crashes at boot every time.
I tried banging on the side of the monitor to no avail.
All kidding aside, here are pictures of my monitor when booting 194 in
case that is helpful.

Audio fails on centos 5.5 sony laptop - snd-hda-intel
Hi List, been chasing my tail for the last two hours and getting nowhere
on my wifes laptop.
I only do updates monthly on her machine, as it is safely behind
firewalls and only does email and browser stuff.
I have never had audio problems on this laptop, Centos just worked from
day one - even the wireless.
It appears that the 5.5 kernels and related audio driver snd-hda-intel
do not function.

USB devices - libgphoto2 - PTP - hplip
Hi,
Posting this again as it has been drowned. can anybody assist?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi All,
I'm trying to disable USB storage devices in Centos7.1.1503.
I've setup udev rules to block all usb devices and then additional rules
to allow specific vendors / products to be used (mainly keyboards and
mice). This is all working perfectly.

Xen on Centos 5.5 vs 5.3 and stability issues
I've recently upgraded a Centos 5.3 machine to Centos 5.5. The
hardware isn't HVM capabile so I'm only running para-virt guests.
Using a vanilla i386 kernel boots without, but the newer kernel-xen
locks up the Dom0 after a couple of minute. I'm only booting into
single user mode for these tests so no VMs are active.

Time lagging on DomU
Hi,
on one of our systems I see that while the time on the Centos 5.4 Host is
correct it lags behind on two of the 5.5 guests by almost 5 minutes but is
correct for the third domU. From what I understand the clock of the system
is controlled by the host and and guest cannot write to it (and because of
that not change it). Does anyone now what the cause could be and how I can
fix the time for

open-vm-tools 20100425 rpm
All,
I've updated the open-vm-tools packages that have been floating around
to the latest release - 4/25/2010 - for those that are interested.
There is quite a bit of new additions/changes over the past year such as
the addition of a fuse driver for vmblock devices, vmxnet3, pvscsi, etc.
SRPMS and .spec's available here:

Canon Printer Woe
Hi,
Has anyone had any success using a Canon LBP5300 with CentOS or any other RH
type os for that matter, using the rpms and intructions downloaded from the
Canon website? I have it working on XP and OS X both via USB and network but
am having no success with either on CentOS 5.4 . Print jobs seem to be
processed correctly by CUPS but the printer doesn't respond at all and the
jobs show

problem rebuilding kvm package on centos 5.5
Hi All:
I'm trying to rebuild the kvm SRPM (kvm-83-164.el5_5.9.src.rpm)
on a centos 5.5 x86_64 and it's failing with the message:
error: Failed build dependencies:

I have already run "yum-builddep <srpm>" and here is the output
(indicates nothing missing)

Centos 5.5 on a Toshiba Satellite L1500D - Wireless networking - Realtek 8172
I just installed Centos 5.5 x86_64 on a new Toshiba Satellite L1500D.
Everything seems to work (so far) other than the wireless networking;
lscpi tells me:
0e:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Unknown
device 8172 (rev 10)
I discovered that I need the realtek driver, so I found and downloaded
these:
