NT printing problem
I've got Samba 2.0.3 running on my Linux box.
Marvin is the samba server. Bugs is the NT box.
Attached is the relevant part of my smb.conf file. I removed several parts
from what's attached to save bandwidth. What you see is simply the part
that pertains to my printer.
I can't print to the DeskJet printer. The printer appears in my network
neighborhood, but I just can't get

Automount of USB drives
Hi,
I am using 5.1, Until yesterday morning when we had a power cut
for 9 hours [no proper UPS], the automount of USB drives worked
properly.
Now when I connect any USB drive [hard drives & USB sticks], they
show up in dmesg, and they are being properly recognized, but I
have to mount them by hand.
Any suggestion?

Samba Fstab and Automount
/etc/fstab:

Problem is there is no password to the smb server. Why am I getting a
password prompt when the share has full RW access and all access is
granted on the share? Note, though the share is fully visable and
accessable and writeable by just browsing the

USB, AutoMount & VNC
Hi!
I'm trying to figure out how to make automount do its job when nobody
is logged at the console and the user access the server by VNC. Does
anybody knows how to make CentOS automount USB Hard Drives / Pendrive
when accessed by VNC?
Thanks!

automount complaints
Folks,
I've been getting complaints in our logfiles, such as
May 12 10:07:07 <servername> automount[3415]: update_negative_cache: key
".git" not found in map.
a) Is there a FAQ on automount that might cover some of this? Googling
hasn't found one for me?
b) Any clues as to what might be causing this? I see a lot of it,
in spurts.

CD/DVD automount issues
This was working before the last "yum update" which I had not done in
a couple of months(yeah I know I''m bad).
I have a virtual WinXP instance running on a Linux box. They share
the dvd drive with the following disk command in the .hvm file:
disk = [ ''phy:/dev/VG_Guests/WinXP-001,ioemu:hda,w'',
''file:/opt/xen_stuff/winxp.iso,hdc:cdrom,w'',

Using other automount maps
Environment: HP-UX 10.20 Samba 1.9.18p10 ; compiled with -DAUTOMOUNT option.
We are using our samba server to mount various automounted directories
including user's home. auto.home map takes care of mounting user's home
automagically but for other directories, I have to put a share name for
each of them (and there are hundreds of them).
Is it possible to define one share name (like

autofs update brakes nested automount
On my CentOS5 boxes the automounter fails after the last update to
autofs.x86_64 1:5.0.1-0.rc2.177.el5
No update is seen on CentOS6 and things still work there.
The home directory of users is setup using an auto.home map which is
distributed using NIS:
* fsutrecht02:/export/home/& /nobackup -noacl
nasutrecht01:/nobackup/& /snapshot -ro fazant:/home_backup/

automount problem
hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right list.
my client is sharing a folder via samba (/export)
In that folder there is a automount-entry for my usbstick (/export/usbstick)
On another host i can mount the export with mount.smbfs
As soon as I access the stick (so automount gets active) i cannot umount
the share. Get error: device is busy (automount timeout is set to 2sec.)
When i never access

how to automount password less samba share in linux ?
Dear list,
I have a password-less samba shared and it is used successfully from
window PCs. I also like to make an auto-mount for linux pcs so that it
can be used from linux boxes. To achieve this I have made an entry in
/etc/fstab as
```````````````````````
//192.168.1.1/shared /home/test/serverdisk cifs user,rw 0 0
````````````````````
As root I can mount it and see all the contents of

USB, AutoMount & VNC
Hi Guy,
I'm curious if you found a solution to the headless automount problem
on centos? I'm running into a similar problem, though I am not using
VNC. My machine is simply headless, with only network and power
supplied, and I'm trying to trigger a bash script to run when a new
device is added (like USB, DVD, CDROM, etc) using a custom udev rule.
Automount seems to only work

Nested ZFS sharenfs exports are empty on automount clients
Hello
I''ve got nested ZFS filesystems exported via NFS.
They are mounted on the clients using automount (from a NIS map).
But: only the root exported filesystem shows any contents on the clients.
Any sub-directories it has are fine, but any sub-filesystems are empty.
ie. NIS map auto.stuff contains "stuff server:/stuff/images"
server% zfs get sharenfs
stuff/images

virsh vol-create-as failing on NFS automount for chmod (dynamic_ownership = 0)
Hi Everyone:
I am trying to create a volume using the vol-create-as command but it
fails with an "Operation not permitted" error. It appears to be caused
by an attempt to run chown on an NFS mounted file system but I have set
dynamic_ownership to 0 in /etc/qemu.conf.
Is it possible to disable the chown operation? If not, is there a guide
that describes how to create storage

"Command & Conquer 3" dvd automount failure workaround
The "Command & Conquer 3" dvd fails to automount when you insert it,
and is not recognized as a UDF image by /bin/file, but is
recognized as a UDF image by mount.
To reproduce:
insert "Command & Conquer 3" dvd.
Observe that gnome does not automount.
Look in /var/log/messages, notice line like
