Updating PXE documentation for CentOS wiki
I was just looking at the CentOS Wiki at https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/PXE/PXE_Setup, and it's pretty seriously out of date. It neglects the existence of the "syslinux-tftpboot" RPM, and the hand editing of xinetd config files for tftpd ignores the availability of "chkconfig" and "service" to manage that service. For more sophisticated users, it doesn't

how to pxeboot dom0?
Hi all, Well I''ve managed to waste a day on this. Posted a similar message earlier today on the fedora list and got no nibbles. I read every article in the archives regarding pxebooting; there is no mention of it in the wiki. I have a box with two kernels, a standard fedora 6 and a xen fedora 6. Both boot fine. I''ve setup another server with dhcp and tftpboot and can now

Linux reinstallation without rebooting? Alternative to kickstart and other such tools?
Hi All. I am curious if it is possible to reinstall linux distribution to centos (or another distro) if I have a remote linux server with no kvm access (i do not want to use virtualization). I know that for installation pxe, tftpboot and kickstart or a proper iso/cd and kickstart are standard options. But for such operations I would need kvm access. Are there any alternatives which do not need

Interactive PXE install
I've got a system (Supermicro P8SCT) that lacks a floppy or CD and it's old enough that it won't boot from a USB stick. Before I scrounge an optical drive to plug in, I thought perhaps I could install over the network, as I see "legacy LAN boot" in the BIOS menu. The guides for a LAN install I've found all want to do an automated kickstart install. Are there any

booting w98 bootdisk via memdisk
Hallo, I try to boot the windows 98 bootdisk via memdisk. It doesn't work completely. Booting a freedos FD image works, booting the windows 98 image works too. But the windows 98 boot disk then should extract the file "ebd.cab" with the file "extract.com", and that step fails. Is that a syslinux problem or a windows problem? Viele Gruesse! Helmut

Problem with PXEBOOT of diskless client -- fails to mount RAMDISK
I am having a problem with setting up diskless clients under CentOS 5.2. I have everything working under CentOS 4.7. This is an adaptation of the (somewhat old) Diskless Linux with PXE HOWTO by Gerd v. Egidy, originally at the URL http://www.intra2net.com/opensource/diskless-howto/, which is now defunt (there is a mirror of it at http://blog.chinaunix.net/u/2389/showart_82438.html). What I am

pxelinux menu questions
Hello all, I have a few questions about the menuing system that I haven't been able to find in the archives (it would be nice if they were available in a searchable form other than having to click on a month-by month basis and read through them - if they are searchable I would love to find a way to do this but it hasn't jumped out at me). My first question is : What is menu.c32? I

lpxelinux.0 does not set the port number in the http Host: header
Hello all, I think I may have found a bug with the way lpxelinux.0 sends http requests. Specifically when I trace the requests I notice that the Host: header does not contain the port that was used to make the request. Here's my scenario. I have a python Flask app that dynamically generates the PXE menu for kickstarts. When I request a URL the server responds with a file containing more

UEFI and PXE
We have a working PXE setup. I've tried to adapt it to UEFI as per RHEL6 manual, but the client won't boot. Strangely, tcpdump shows that the client tries to download all files via tftp from the dhcp server rather than the tftp server (they are different). next-server is pointing to the tftp server. Any clues?

CentOS 8.2 corrupt pxeboot kernel
Attempting to PXE boot from the BaseOS/x86_64/kickstart/images/pxeboot/ files results in repeating messages Invalid or corrupt kernel image eventually changing to Could not find kernel image: centos8.2.x86_64/vmlinuz I downloaded the files again, from a different mirror, and they are all the same. Wiped the files and recreated /tftpboot/linux-install/centos8.2.x86_64/. No dice. First mirror

Help required on pxe booting + installation of CentOS
Hi, I have a (bugridden, idiotic) fedora 4 server with tftpd, nfsd and dhcpd support. I want to remove fedora from my network and initiate pxe installation of CentOS Linux on all machines on my network from my fedora box. I have the CentOS's pxe-kernel and pxe-initrd images. I have also compiled fedora's pxeboot file from the sources and placed it in /tftpboot/. Can someone please guide

Failed to get to installer for CentOS 7 VM under CentOS 6...
I just tried to create a CentOS 7 VM on a CentOS 6 host, but it crashes to the dracut prompt. I am using the PXEBoot installer. I *think* it is unhappy with the (virtual) graphics controller, but I am not sure. WDS and PXELinux
Dear All, First posting here... I am trying to integrate a PXELinux boot into my native-mode WDS server. I have found that making WDS boot the PXELinux is easy (see below), it is making PXELinux give control back to WDS that I have not cracked yet. -In your WDS server, copy the contents of your tftpboot folder to the Boot\x86 folder in your RemoteInstall one. -Open the Windows Deployment
