Having trouble installing the Rails plugin with Rspec 0.7.5
Hi, I''m running Rails 1.1.6 and just installed RSpec 0.7.5. When I try to install the appropriate Rails plugin, it just says that "Export Complete" and doesn''t install anything to vendor. I can do it with older version, but then it''s not compatible with RSpec. Any ideas? blissdev:~/code/rails/client/wordone > ruby script/plugin install

Rspec for the svn-less
Here is a short bash script I wrote to install rspec if your just using the tarballs like me. I probably should have written it in ruby, but there it is: #!/bin/bash RSPEC=rspec-1.0.4-pre-release.tgz RSPECRAILS=rspec_on_rails-1.0.4-pre-release.tgz [ -z "$1" ] && { echo echo "You must include a pathname" echo exit 1 } if [ -d $1/vendor/plugins ]; then cd

Edge RSpec on Rails...what did I forget?
Started a new Rails project, and installed RSpec and the Rails plugin vendor/plugins/rspec (svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/trunk/rspec) - 1332 vendor/plugins/rspec_on_rails (svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/trunk/rspec_on_rails/vendor/plugins/rspec_on_rails) - 1332 Generated the rspec file, created a model...the spec runs fine if I do ruby spec/models/foo_spec.rb. Running rake though gives

rspec for the svn-less (ruby version)
A couple of things: - it is defaulted to 1.0.5, but if there was a "current" I could probably use that instead. - it seems like everyone might not use the rspec_on_rails piece...what do other think? - there are some other checks I could put in here, suggestions are welcome. - general code suggestions are welcome as well. Documentation Nit
I''m trying to wrap my head around rspec_on_rails and ran into the following documentation nit: -------- what it says -------- You can specify :template, :text, or :action. controller.should_render :template=>"path/to/template/for/action" controller.should_render :text=>"expected text" controller.should_render :action=>"expected_action" --------

Using a subversion repository to spec in a rails app
Is it a bad practice to use a subversion repository to the trunk of rspec and rspec_on_rails? Or rather, is it doomed to fail, since my gem will always be out of date? I know I can''t use spec, installed from gem,s if I have the latest revision of rspec and rspec_on_rails checked into my plugins directory. But I should still be able to use it with the --drb option, correct?

authentication, controller specs. I think I''m missing something simple ....
Hi all, I feel like I''m missing something really easy and I''m just not seeing it. I''m using the restful_authentication plugin and have a User model. Uesr has_many :things and Thing belongs_to :user. That''s it. I did a "script/generate rspec_scaffold thing" to generate all the necessary bits. The "rake db:migrate" to create the db. At

rspec version to use with git
I want to start using RSpec in an existing project that uses git for SCM, and I was planning on using git submodules to pull in known-stable releases of the rspec and rspec_on_rails plugins. The current repositories on github don''t seem to be set up to help with this at the moment though, so I''m looking for some advice. Here''re the issues, I think: * The last

Installing plugins without svn:// access
Hi, I''m trying to get up and running with rspec on a new project. I''d like to install the rspec and rspec_on_rails plugins (per http://rspec.rubyforge.org/documentation/rails/install.html), but my corporate firewall blocks port 3690 so I can''t access the repository via svn:// I searched the docs and the mailing-list archive to figure out how to install the plugins

Bugs Fixed in Trunk
I''m backed off Edge Rails and all the way back to 0.7.2 of rSpec to make my tests pass. The changes to rSpec are coming together fast and furious and they seem too good to pass up. Is there an approved way to upgrade the components in the absence of prebuilt stuff? Every time I''ve tried, I''ve been punished harshly by the Version Conflict Gods. Just asking for
