Web photo gallery options
Hi all,
I'm looking for a web photo gallery for my personal web server at home. Till
now I've done the galleries manually from Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I
feel that is a dead end, kinda', besides the fact that the galleries created
are rather static. I'd like an easier way to do this, eg uploading images in
folders directly to the gallery and it will take care of what needs to

Old hd, new machine
What should I do to make an existing CentOS (5.4) disc boot up on a new
computer?
I just made on CentOS 5.3 installation on that machine, so I know the
hardware is compatible.
Would it be enough to boot with a DVD in rescue mode, or boot with
another hd, and install grub?

NIS or not?
Hi all,
We're getting to a point in our linux environment where it's starting to be
cumbersome to keep shadow and passwd-files up-to-date for the users to login
on each computer. Scripts can only get us so far. 8-/
I've looked a bit into central login systems for linux, and NIS and LDAP seem
to be prevalent. NIS being the simpler-to-setup solution for small to medium
networks as

Dualboot CentOS and Windows
Hi,
I have to install CentOS on a spare partition of a laptop with
Windows pre installed. Is there anything I have to watch out for?
Couldn't find anything in the wiki or does the installer handle this
well without me doing some magic, or so?
TIA,
Frank.

Google Chrome and CentOS 6?
Hi all,
Just recently I started getting the dreaded message about my CentOS 6.7
x64-installation wasn't going to be supported anymore by Google Chrome.
"This computer will soon stop receiving Google Chrome updates because this
Linux system will no longer be supported."
Doing some google searches I found this;

Dropbox on CentOS 6?
Hi,
I just spent a couple of unnerving hours trying to make Dropbox work on
CentOS 6.6.
Is there a way that
1. Actually works?
2. Doesn't include jumping through burning loops?
Cheers from the sunny south of France,
Niki

Third-party SATA-RAID cards suggestions
Hi all,
Would anybody care to suggest a third party SATA-RAID card that works out of
the box with CentOS 6, without having to jump through hoops to make it work?
The card should preferably be able to connect ten harddrives, but I guess
three four-port cards should work as well. There's no need for anything fancy
really, as long as I can create a single big software-raid on it at CentOS

new laptop: DVD or Blu-ray
Sorin, authoring a movie usually refers to actually creating a disc (e.g.
DVD/Blu-Ray with chapter marks and what not). It's the step that comes
after you've shot and edited the movie, see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_authoring. As far as I know K3B, Bombone
DVD and DeVede are capable of authoring DVDs. K3B (version dependent)
should even be able to create Blu-Ray discs so that they

OT: Bittorrent clients
Hi all,
Just switched my home computer from Windows 7 to CentOS 6.6 and I'm having a slight bit of trouble with the bittorrent-clients.
* Transmission is fine but lacks "a bit" in features.
* Vuze is my preferred bt-client but gives me horrendous gfx-artifacts, like not showing the torrent name (it's white text on a white background or some such...).
* Deluge is better, and

Yes, it's from kde.

All kde programs work in all desktop managers provided that you install the required libraries. The same is true for gnome programs.

Yum segmentation fault when updating to CentOS v5.5
Hi all,
I'm getting a segmentation fault with yum when I try to update a CentOS v5.4
install to v5.5.
What I've done:
* Ran yum clean all.
* Ran yum update yum*
* Ran yum update, and got the segmentation fault.
* Yum suggested running with option --skip-broken, which I did. Still got the
segmentation fault.
* Rebooted machine and ran yum update again. Segmentation fault...
* Googled
