looking for kernel-xen- 2.6.18-164.el5
Hi all, does anyone know where I can download kernel-xen- 2.6.18-164.el5 for CentOS 5? I can't install it with yum, since yum has a much newer version already. I have searched google, but can't find a download link, only a lot of references to the kernel w.r.t problems. -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers SoftDux Website: http://www.SoftDux.com Technical Blog: http://Blog.SoftDux.com Office:

oVirt on CentOS 5.3?
Hi, Has anyone been succesful in installing oVirt on CentOS 5.3? While it looks like a greate virtualization package, they only support FC10, and the installation instructions are for FC9. So, has anyone installed it on CentOS yet? If so, would you mind sharing with me whether it was a problematic installation, or not really? -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers CEO, SoftDux Hosting Web:

(re)load new kernel with rebooting host node?
Hi all, Is it possible to reload the dom0 / host node's kernel with a newer one, without rebooting the server? I know kexec can do something like this for security patches, but I don't know much about kexec, and I don't want to mess up a production server either. So, has anyone done something like this before? I need to load a new kernel for one of the domU's iptables to work, but

best practices in using shared storage for XEN Virtual Machines and auto-failover?
Hi all, Can anyone pleas tell me what would be best practice to use shared storage with virtual machines, especially when it involved high availability / automated failover between 2 XEN servers? i.e. if I setup 2x identical XEN servers, each with say 16GB RAM, 4x 1GB NIC's, etc. Then I need the xen domU's to auto failover between the 2 servers if either goes down (hardware failure /

is it possible to resive /var online?
Hi all, Is it possible, safely, to resize /var while a server is running? I urgently need to resize a full 2GB /var on a running server which is located at a remote location where no one can get to it for 2 days? The system runs on lvm. I already moved /var/logs to it's own LVM partition but it didn't help at all so I think it's better to rather just resize it. Google searches

OT: looking for a rsync equivalent for Windows platforms
Hi all, Does anyone know of a good & free rsync type program for Windows platforms? Like most of us, I need to work on both Windows & Linux environments, and would like to sync some data (music, videos, photos, documents, thunderbird profiles, FF bookmarks, etc) between a USB HDD, my Linux (CentOS + KDE) PC, and Windows Laptop at the office. everything seems to hang, but system is idle?
Hi All, My one server recently started acting very weird. At fist I couldn't import any images with cobbler as rsync crashes the whole time. I was told to ask on the cobbler list (maybe it's not supported here?) but I left it at that (subscribed to far too many lists already). Yesteday I wanted to copy some stuff from a USB disk to the server (using rsync to update the files which have

layer 8 / user level firewall on linux?
Hi all, Does anyone know of a Linux firewall that offers layer 8 firewall / user level firewalling? Cyberoam (http://www.cyberoam.com/firewall.html) has a layer 8 firewall built into their UTM firewalls, and while it's a great product I find it a bit limited for what I want. I basically want to track which user access what on the internet, from an internal network. Ideally I want to limit

Is parralel processing automatically done on multi-core CPU's?
Hi, I just noticed this article, http://www.howtoforge.net/fully-utilizing-your-x-core-cpu which uses http://code.google.com/p/ppss/ for parralel processing. So, can anyone tell me if parralel processing happens automatically on CentOS, or would I need to use this script as well? We mainly have Dual Core & Dual CPU, Dual Core (i.e. 8 cores) servers and it would be benefitial to know whether

[CORRECTED] Postfix SMTP authentication on remote relay serve
Sorry about the previous post, I see the subject had a typo. So here's the correct one :) Does anyone know how to configure Postfix to use SMTP authentication on a relay host? i.e. I have a Linux server, running PostFix on an ADSL line with a dynamic IP. Thus I can't just send out emails from this server but need to relay it via our ISP's SMTP server, which is very unreliable. Now

advice needed about "554 Too many recipients"
Hi all, A client of ours just requested to increase the max_recipients in Exim to 300, since he keeps getting "554 Too many recipients" error when sending a marketing email from MS Outlook. Before you tell me to use Pine / Mutt / etc to send plain-text emails via mailman, this isn't an option. I would like to know, what are the implications of increasing the default 100 to 300? If

slow network throughput, how to improve?
would like some input on this one please. Two CentOS 5.5 XEN servers, with 1GB NIC's, connected to a 1GB switch transfer files to each other at about 30MB/s between each other. They are both used in production
