mock, extras vs epel
I am looking to be a bit more standard in the builds of my CentOS rpms, and so I was about to install mock but noticed that there is one provided in the centos/5/extras and another in epel. epel is obviously newer, but are there reasons/experiences in this group that would suggest sticking with the extras version instead? Or even reasons other than the shiny version number on the epel one to

metafont on CentOS 5?
Can someone hit me with the appropriate clue-by-4? is there an available package for CentOS5 which provides the metafont command, or a replacement? What is the name and which repo? please. I have a font bundle I need to use (which is not provided in an RPM that I can find), but metafont does not seem to be available. tetex provides the /usr/share/texmf/metafont directory structure, but not a

dhclient.conf being ignored!
It seems that the prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor has decided that dhclient.conf should be ignored, i.e. ifup-eth causes dhclient to be called with "-cf /etc/dhclient-$(DEVICE).conf", and then ifup-eth/ifdown-eth wipes the file out each time. Through the use of "DHCP_HOSTNAME" in ifcfg-eth0 you can specify a host name, but because of the above behavior of

Yet another denial - it's as though it's also blocking me based on the relationship of included text vs. new text. blah, blah, blah. Let's see if this is enough new text to get through. centos wiki strangeness.
In preparing to answer a question about some yum undesired behavior, I wanted to reference fastest mirror info, but when I went to https://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/FastestMirror I find all the text has been squished to the right hand side of the page and made 1 word wide all the way down. The https://wiki.centos.org/FrontPage looks similar but perhaps it is a little better? Or is

Forcing a variableinto a model using stepAIC
Dear All, I am attempting to use forward and/or backward selection to determine the best model for the variables I have. Unfortunately, because I am dealing with patients and every patient is receiving treatment I need to force the variable for treatment into the model. Is there a way to do this using R? (Additionally, the model is stratified by randomisation period). I know that SAS can be

[LLVMdev] Floating point atomic load and add
Hello, I'm wondering how I can create an atomic load and add instruction for floating point values. If I use IRBuilder::CreateAtomicRMW() I get the error message: "atomicrmw operand must have integer type". I am using LLVM 3.4 and the only system I need to support is x86.

Unable to join ADS domain
I've installed Samba 3.0.2 (from the source) on a SuSE 8.2 system with MIT Kerberos 1.3.1 (I uninstalled the Heimdal code) and the OpenLDAP 2.1.27 development libraries installed on it. I want to make this system a domain member of a Win2K native-mode ADS domain but can't get "net ads join" to work. I've run "kinit myid@MYDOMAIN.COM" and I get at ticket, but when

Todd Denniston - a second "thanks, again"
Almost there on getting the current US fed PIV cards working properly (and *not* pulling up the idiot coolkey stuff), and I was just looking for where ssh-agent is started automagically when you log in... and I found the thread I started early last April... and that inlcuded you, Todd, mentioning where it's started (/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc-common), so, a second tip o' th' hat to you.

How can rpm "%{SUMMARY}" not be consistent?
I have been seeing something for quite some time which has confused me considerably for over a year, perhaps one of you can help me understand. Assumed: rpm queries are against _a_ database. Assumed: database queries against the same database, without changes to the data in the database, will return the same data. Confusion: then why are some of the summaries reported by rpm different?
