XFS-filesystem corrupted by defragmentation Was: Performance problems with XFS on Centos 5.4
Before I'd try to defragment my whole filesystem (see attached mail for whole story) I figured "Let's try it on some file". So I did > xfs_bmap /raid/Temp/someDiskimage.iso [output shows 101 extents and 1 hole] Then I defragmented the file > xfs_fsr /raid/Temp/someDiskimage.iso extents before:101 after:3 DONE > xfs_bmap /raid/Temp/someDiskimage.iso [output shows 3

uuid configure issue?
I'm trying to build xapian-core-1.2.2 on Linux. After manually installing uuid.h and libuuid.a from e2fsprogs-1.41.12, I receive the following configure error: checking for uuid.h... yes checking for uuid_create... no configure: error: uuid.h found, but uuid_create() not found. You probably wants to install libuuid from e2fsprogs (you may need to install the uuid-dev, libuuid-devel or

WISH: Built-in R session-specific universally unique identifier (UUID)
# Proposal Provide a built-in mechanism for obtaining an identifier for the current R session, e.g. > Sys.info()[["session_uuid"]] [1] "4258db4d-d4fb-46b3-a214-8c762b99a443" The identifier should be "unique" in the sense that the probability for two R sessions(*) having the same identifier should be extremely small. I am trying to install Oracle RAC in a two node cluster for testing purposes, so performance is not something that concerns me. I just want to go through the process all the way to creating a database. I have all the prerequisites except the shared storage and thought I'd give this a try. I'm running: - CentOS 5.3 kernel 2.6.18-164.el5 - iscsitarget-1.4.18-1 -

The Areca arc-1224 is not supported by the Areca driver included driver in 7.1 so I have to supply that when starting the install. Documentation provided by Areca and in the Red Hat install guide say the same thing, put the driver on an accessible medium then append inst.dd on the boot command, choose the driver and now the
