Gluster 3.2.0 and ucarp not working
Hello everybody.
I have a problem setting up gluster failover funcionality. Based on
manual i setup ucarp which is working well ( tested with ping/ssh etc
)
But when i use virtual address for gluster volume mount and i turn off
one of nodes machine/gluster will freeze until node is back online.
My virtual ip is 3.200 and machine real ip is 3.233 and 3.5. In
gluster log i can see:

3ware 9650 issues
I've been having no end of issues with a 3ware 9650SE-24M8 in a server that's
coming on a year old. I've got 24 WDC WD5001ABYS drives (500GB) hooked to it,
running as a single RAID6 w/ a hot spare. These issues boil down to the card
periodically throwing errors like the following:
sd 1:0:0:0: WARNING: (0x06:0x002C): Command (0x8a) timed out, resetting card.
Usually when this

NFSv4 on CentOS 4.5
Hi. I'm having trouble accessing a shared directory over NFSv4 on a
CentOS 4.5 machine.
My export file reads
/test 10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0(ro,async,insecure,nohide,no_subtree_check)
Running the mount command with NFSv4 as the filesystem gives me a
permission denied error.
[root at pebble-anoop ~]# mount -v -t nfs4 pebble-anoop:/test/ /mnt/
mount: pinging: prog 100003 vers 4 prot tcp port

Ext3 and 3ware RAID5
I run a decent amount of 3ware hardware, all under centos-4. There seems
to be some sort of fundamental disagreement between ext3 and 3ware's
hardware RAID5 mode that trashes write performance. As a representative
example, one current setup is 2 9550SX-12 boards in hardware RAID5 mode
(256KB stripe size) with a software RAID0 stripe on top (also 256KB
chunks). bonnie++ results look

Help with NFSV4 server
Hi Everyone,
I have been trying to setup an NFS v4 File Server but have come across
an odd issue. Mounting the /nfs4exports/share appears to be successful
and the information displayed about partition size and free space seem
correct but if I try to do anything inside the mounted directory the
client will just hang. Does anyone have any idea what I am missing?? I
have try disabling all

nfs4 problem in CENTOS6
Hi,
This is slightly offtopic, but I have been trying to resolve that problem for two days now without much success. It looks like this may be something that works with CENTOS5, but not with CENTOS6!
I have two machines, fileserver1 and server5.
fileserver1 runs on CENTOS6 (virtualized, if this is important), server5 runs on Centos5. Both are running with the most recent updates.
Server5 is a

nfs4 help needed
Fedora 13 is using nfs4, and there is a problem in opening files requiring
OpenOffice if accessed over an nfs3 mount, so it's time to change. I found a
couple of tutorials, and got it *almost* working correctly. This is where I
need help.
Logwatch tells me
/nfs4exports/Data1 and /Data1 have same filehandle for
*,192.168.0.0/24,192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0, using first

nfsv4 and kerberos - fails to mount
I have been trying all sorts of things to get this working.
nfsv4 works fine if I just use the nfs-v3 form of export
i.e.
/nfs4exports
192.168.230.237/24(ro,fsid=0,sync,insecure,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check,squash_uids=0-99)
/nfs4exports/NDG
192.168.230.237/24(rw,insecure,no_subtree_check,nohide,sync,no_root_squash,squash_uids=0-99)
but this is inherently open to all on this machine.
so then

RAID6 in production?
Is anyone using RAID6 in production? In moving from hardware RAID on my dual
3ware 7500-8 based systems to md, I decided I'd like to go with RAID6
(since md is less tolerant of marginal drives than is 3ware). I did some
benchmarking and was getting decent speeds with a 128KiB chunksize.
So the next step was failure testing. First, I fired off memtest.sh as

[Fwd: Re: Exporting a samba mount]]
Christopher and the list:
Gee... I wish it would!
My probelm currently is the fact that if I add this line to /etc/exports:
/mnt/MountedSambaShare somebox(nohide)
I get:
somebox:/mnt/MountesSambaShare: Invalid argument
This happens whether /etc/exports says "somebox(nohide)" or
"somebox(ro)" or "somebox()".
Note that /mnt/MounteSambaShare is in fact

nfs4 with Samba 4
Hi everyone
Version 4.0.0alpha18-GIT-bfc7481
openSUSE 12.1
Conventional nfs4 export works fine, but I'm having trouble kerberizing
it for Samba 4 for my Samba 4 users.
I've setup the nfs4 pseudo stuff like this:
hh3:/ # mkdir /export
hh3:/ # mkdir /export/home
hh3:/ # mount --bind /home /export/home
Here is /etc/exports:

kickstart question
I have a couple lines like:
part / --ondisk=sda --fstype ext3 --size=20000 --asprimary
part swap --ondisk=sda --size=4000 --asprimary
part /home --ondisk=sda --fstype ext3 --size=1 --asprimary --grow
in my kickstart file.
Is there a way to have 1 kickstart file that works for hda and sda both???
So I would like to have 1 kickstart file that works for either a hda

NFSv4 on CentOS 5.5
Hi,
What is the magic juju that I have to put in /etc/sysconfig/autofs to
get autofs to default to using NFSv4, rather than NFSv3, for mounting
file systems?
I don't want to place these flags into the automount maps themselves
because we have a varied network with Sun, CentOS, RedHat and
Macintosh systems, and the flags that have to get added to automount
maps (which we distribute centrally

3ware disk failure -> hang
I've got an i386 server running centos 4.2 with 3 3ware controllers in it
-- an 8006-2 for the system disks and 2 7500-8s. On the 7500s, I'm
running an all software RAID50. This morning I came in to find the system
hung. Turns out a disk went overnight on one of the 7500s, and rather
than a graceful failover I got this:

How to create a huge file system - 3-4TB?
We have a server with about 6x750Gb SATA drives setup on a hardware RAID
controller. We created hardware RAID 5 on these 6x750GB HDDs. The effective
size after RAID 5 implementation is 3.4TB. This server we want to use it as
a data backup server.
Here is the problem we are stuck with, when we use fdisk -l, we can see the
drive specs and its size as 3.4TB. But when we want to create two different

server exercising, stressing, and/or testing
greetings
would someone please point me to an excellent server exercising, stressing,
and/or testing program that will run on centos 4?
i want one that will not out and out destroy a machine so to speak...
...meaning testing is one thing, yet pounding a box in the hard drive
department over and above the cause or unnecessarily does not appeal to me.
