UID - high need to lower it for a test user - active directory auth
Hi Guys,
I am having some problems with Active Directory users using a bit of
software on our server, my AD users are authing via Winbind this works
fine and the only difference I can see between a local user and an AD
user is the fact the AD user has a MUCH higher UID, how can I create a
user with a low UID to test this? I don't want to change them all yet
as it might not be this that

Problem with users (authing over Active Directory) not being about to run software, but local users can.
Hi Guys,
I have a CentOS box running with Active Directory Authentication via
winbind and that is working fine.
When users login for the first time their home dir's are created in
/home/%DOMAIN%/ which is also working fine.
Now, they have installed a bit of commercial software on the CentOS
server which works fine for all the local users but not the users
logging in via Active Directory

making Dovecot match Courier POP3 UID's
Hi, guys.
I've read the information in the Wiki about making dovecot's UID's match
Courier's UID's in the POP3 server, so that a UIDL command on either
server will return the same UID's for the same group of messages.
However, what I've read doesn't match what I'm seeing in Courier.
Courier appears to keep the UID numbers for messages that it uses for
the POP3

Plotting Where People Live on a U.S. Map
Hi,
QUESTION TOPIC #1
I have some data I want to plot on a map. But what I have are home addresses: street, City, State, complete postal code--i.e 95377-1234. Is there a way to plot this data or do I need latitudinal and longitude coordinates? If so how do I convert them? Is there a package that will do the conversion in R?
QUESTION TOPIC #2
I was trying to experiment with this code that I found

live migration fails on ia32e hv?
Hi,
I found that w/ cset 14718, live migration will fail on ia32e hv. The
qemu window will never disappear after ''xm migrate'' command return, and
the guest will not restore on the dest machine either. xend.log is
attached.

virsh list hangs / guests not starting automatically
I followed the wiki[1] to create a KVM virtual machine using bridged
network on CentOS 6.5. It seemed to work fine on initial setup.
(FWIW I'm trying to run a MythBuntu guest.) However, after a reboot,
it doesn't auto-start the VMs.
Shortly after boot, if I go into "virsh", then do a "list", it just
hangs. Likewise, if I go into "virt manager", it just

Puppet LVM create volume maximum size
Hello,
Using the LVM module/providers from the forge I want to create a logical
volume at the maximum size and I cannot work out how to do this.
physical_volume -> volume_group -> logical_volume -> filesystem -> mount
All works fine but you have to hard code the size for the logical volume.
Anyone know if this is possible ?
Thanks
Paul
