OpenOffice.org 3.1 installation was corrupted-installed again, nothing in Applications/Office menu
I had a corrupted installation of OpenOffice.org 3.1.
When I used "yum remove openoffice.org-core" the response was "package
openoffice.org-core available but not installed", but then, when I
used "yum install openoffice.org-core there was a long list of
Transaction Check Errors. I then removed
openoffice.org3.1-redhat-menus-noarch which was in the errors.

Reading microsoft .xls format and openoffice OpenDocument files
1. I have used gdata::read.xls() with much happiness. But every now
and then it breaks. I have not, as yet, been able to construct a
mental model about the class of .xls files for which it works. Does
someone have a simple rule for predicting the circumstances under
which it will work?
2. Just like there is a read.xls(), it'd be great if we have a
read.ods() which directly

OpenOffice Calc ODBC equivalent
Hi R users:
I am using RODBC to create some new ".xls" files each with
several sheets (about 100) with sqlSave() from a data.frame
inside R without any problem, but on windows XP platform.
I would like to know if it is posible to make a similar
solution on linux with openoffice?
RODBC work only (for the moment) with ".xls" on windows,
via the ODBC driver.

odfweave with openOffice 3.2
Dear list,
since I have upgraded openOffice to version 3.2 I have some
trouble to open very simple ODT files generated by odfweave:
the file is apparently corrupted (but recovery is fine).
I have observed this under windows and mac OS 10.4.11 with
R 2.10.0, odfWeave_0.7.11, XML_2.6-0, lattice_0.17-26.
However, I found nothing similar by RSiteSearching so that
I'm suspecting a localization

odfWeave : sudden and unexplained error
Dear list, dear Max,
I a currently working on a report. I'm writing it with OpenOffice.org
and odfWeave. I'm working increentally : I write a bit, test
(interactively) some ideas, cutting-and-pasting code to the Ooo report
when satisfied with it. I the process, I tend to recompile the .odt
source a *lot*.
Suddenly, odfWeave started to give me an incomprehensible error even

several odfWeave questions
[Sending both to the maintainer and to R-help, in case anyone else has
answers ...]
I've looked in odfWeave documentation, vignette, and poked around on
the web some, and haven't found answers yet.
1a. am I right in believing that odfWeave does not respect the
'keep.source' option? Am I missing something obvious?
1b. is there a way to set global options analogous to

odfWeave UTF-8 error and latin characters
Hello R masters,
I have sent this same message to other lists and none so far could give some
light. I was trying to use odfWeave to generate a report from R and Im
getting an error that I think is related to latin characters. I looked
around and did find some stuff related to this problem about Sweave

but

Using R2.12.1 on Ubuntu 10.04.1 I've tried to run the following code chunk in odfWeave

eps in odfWeave
Dear Weavers,
Does someone have an example of using eps or any other vector graphics with
odfWeave? It tried the example below (and commented variants) with
simple.odt in the examples directory, and got an error.

plotInfo$type = "eps"
#plotInfo$device = "postscript"

thunderbird detach attachment
Hi all,
Thunderbird has an option to detach attachments from (for example) sent
items. I've tried it, and it does not work, and also in the dovecot logs
I don't see anything interesting meanwhile.
Before looking deeper into this: Does anyone here know if this option is
known to work, or not?
We're running dovecot 2.1.7 on debian wheezy.
Removing unwanted attachments is a nice

Errors when trying to open odfWeave documents
Hello
I tried the odfWeave package today, by running the formatting.odt and
example.odt files that are included with the package.
They both ran fine, but when I try to open them in my OpenOffice
(OpenOffice 3.1.1 on Kubuntu 9.10) I get an error "Format error
discovered in the file in sub-document content.xml at 1293,124(row,col)."
I also tried to open them in MS Word 2003 (Windows

mime-type change?
I have a recently (last Friday) updated CentOS 4.5 desktop running OOo 2.2
that, since this morning, displays OpenOffice .odt files as
application:x-java-archives and has replaced the open office icon on my
desktop with the java icon for these files. I have looked in both:
/usr/share/mime-info/gnome-vfs.mime
and
/usr/share/mime-info/file-roller.mime
And cannot see any reference to OpenOffice

Sweaving single master file to get multiple individualised reports
Hi
Apologies in advance if I've missed something obvious. I have read the
Sweave manual, the first article in R News, looked at the Help pages,
googled Sweave and words like loop, output, files, multiple, done much
the same on R site search (in case I missed something on Google) and I
couldn't find exactly what I'm after.

odt2txt: OpenDocument to Markdown
I wrote myself a script to convert Open Document files to Markdown.
Being able to do "odt2txt.py mydoc.odt | less" is the main motivation,
but it also works for doing command line conversion of odt to html by
combining odt2txt with any of the Markdown implementations.
If anyone uses OpenOffice and wants to check it out:

OdfWeave and Locale
Dear all,
I have a question regarding the odfweave. I created an odt file
(test_input.odt) using OO.o for WIndows XP. The code is generic.

odfWeave: Trouble Getting the Package to Work
Hello All,
Have recently started learning Sweave and Knitr. Am now trying to learn odfWeave as well. Things went pretty smoothly with Sweave and Knitr but I'm having some trouble with odfWeave.
My understanding was that odfWeave should work in pretty much the same way as Sweave. With odfWeave, you set up an input .odt file in a folder, run that file through the odfWeave function, and then

odfWeave: odt-file damaged
Dear all,
I am doing my first steps with odfWeave.
After running the r code (see below), I am trying to open the ODF-document
with open office, but I am getting the error message:
"The file is damaged, but it can be repaired". If I confirm the question and
repair the file with open office, I can open it with the desired output,
which seems to be fine.
My system:
