Interfaces stick around now on domain restart?
Hi,
I've just begun putting xen domains on an etch dom0 (my other
servers being sarge with backports at this time). I've noticed that
when a domain is restarted or shut down, SNMP believes that the
interface is still there and a new interface with the same name has
been created.
For example, on an snmpwalk:

snmp statistics for vnics
1 simple question about network statistics for vnics:
We noticed that the statistics for vnics (used by Virtualbox guests) are not there. When the nics are plumped in the host OS, we do see them showing up, but all all records are 0.
Can someone tell me how to get the correct network info via snmp on the Vbox Host??
Thanks in advance.

Paravirt network interfaces and snmp
Hi,
We are using Zenoss to monitor a number of paravirt Linux hosts (using
the xen net device), it appears that an snmp query to the paravirt
hosts is reporting the interface speed as 10mbit - which is
significantly lower than what it really is (the dom0 host has 1gbit
networking). This causes the occasional spurious error from the
monitoring tool as it notices that a host is using 75% of its

SNMP and OID/MIB/MRTG
Hi all.
I am having an issue and quite frankly would rather not spend the entire
next two days learning the entire snmp program. I am hoping someone out
there has used MRTG and SNMP to make it work.
I have both installed. Single server, polling itself.
Question 1- does snmpd have to run as a daemon, or only run once so I can
get OID and MIBs from it?
Question 2- does anyone know the command

CentOS/SNMP update breaks MRTG?
I got itchy fingers over the weekend and decided to fix what wasn't
broken and upgraded one of the older servers from Centos 5.2 to Centos
5.3. Following the recommended process of updating glibc and such
before the rest, it appeared to work perfectly and rebooted without
problem.
However, MRTG 2.15.2 started complaining about unexpected values. I
installed/updated both MRTG (2.16.2) and

QoS net-snmp ?
Hi
I''ve patched net-mrtg http://www.net-snmp.org/
with http://x-ray.prokon.cz/data/snmp/
sucefully
Also I''ve copied QOS.TXT to /usr/local/share/snmp/mibs
when I make a normal use of snmp, with mrtg in order
to monitor all traffic on eth0 and eth1, it works
OK.
But, how must I do in order to get monitor for a
specific class ?
If I make a snmpwalk (like README suggest), I get

ipac/iptables + mrtg accounting
i''ve installed mrtg to make graphics of the trafic from the interfece
throw the snmpd, and the same with ipac witch put iptables accounting
rules colect them and store, and gets the output,
but the "problem" is that ipac graphics are 3 times smaller that the
snmpd. Why???
i did catch all the trafic with ipac so no problem here, and i know that
ipac/iptables is at level 3, and

2gb limit & weird filenames
Hello,
I'm trying to set up a samba server for a friend who has a mac. He's running
OSX, version 10.2. He's got some really big video editing files that are well
in excess of 2gb. We're trying to back these up to the samba server, but it
quits right around 2gb. That seems to be a magical number. This is with
version 2.2.3 of Samba, and Linux-Mandrake 8.2, ext3 file system.

How important are oplocks?
Hello,
I'm wondering just how critical it really is to turn off oplocks. It appears
that not only Windows 2k server, but also Netware 5 and above defaults to
having these enabled.
I just spoke with two software companies running databases off of file servers
(no database server, just MDAC stuff), and they had never heard of it, much
less require it to be disabled. Everything I've

SNMP
Hi guys
I'm trying to set up the SNMP service. I need it to use MRTG to graph some
variables of my Centos 5.3 box. Any of you have a working SNMP configuration
can send me to tweak mine?
Thanks
David

x86_64 snmp Centos 3.x
Does anyone know if the 3.8 update will fix the long-standing
problem with snmp interface counters on 64 bit machines? I
think it was mentioned in the RH notes, but they said that
a year ago too... (The problem is that the 32 bit counters
don't wrap correctly so mrtg/cacti graphs go crazy after
2 gigs of data have gone by).

Need big buffer!
Hi gang,
I have an application that is sending streaming media to a server. The encoder computer sends an
average of 200kbit stream; but for short, 1 second bursts, can hit 400-500kbits. After it does one
of these bursts, it reduces its output for another second or two, so that it maintains its average
of 200kbits.
The problem is that it is sending UDP packets into a DSL link that has a fixed

Issues with SNMP
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing the same issues I'm seeing here. I
have recently upgraded one of my systems from 4.4 to 4.5 and ever since then
I cannot get snmp to work. I am monitoring the interface traffic. Please
keep in mind the firewall/router I do the same thing without any issues for 4
interfaces and it is still at 4.4 and doesn't have any issues.

Hello,
Can someone explain why I don't get a timeout when I use the community string "public" even if I don't have it
defined in my snmpd.conf file. It doesn't return data but it also doesn't timeout. See example below.

mrtg 2.16.2 ipv6 on centos 6
Hi,
i'm running CentOS 6.0 on my server and installed mrtg from the
rpm-package mrtg-2.16.2 .
I also installed the depending packages perl-IO-Socket-INET6
perl-Socket6 ....
mrtg works fine with IPV4-Addresses. When i specify a Target by
IPV6-Address (or hostname resolving to a V6-address) mrtg fails.
Here i have a small sample-config for V4 which is working:

Reading SNMP on other machine
I'm trying to use snmpwalk to look at other machines, but I can't get a
response. It keeps timing out. It can see itself, though. I haven't had
this problem with other machines and I don't know what's different.
Suggestions?

can't get Ethernet SNMP information
Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with this one.
I'm trying to graph all traffic on the localhost's network card with Cacti.
>From what I understand I should use SNMP to query the traffic, but I can't
seem to get SNMP info for the network interface.
I have installed all the necessary snmp tools, "yum install snmpd net-snmp
net-snmp-utils net-snmp-devel net-snmpt-libs "
