sendmail getting domain\user as email userId
About a year-and-a-half ago I wrote in a thread having this same subject about a problem my
sendmail server was having on my Samba4 AD/DC. To solve that problem at the time, I maintained
domain user entries in both the sam.ldb and in /etc/passwd, and did not have winbind specified
in /etc/nsswitch.conf. I am now trying to remove all users from /etc/passwd and use winbind.
Unfortunately, I'm

One host sends just one email per day, the daily logwatch report.
Here's /var/log/maillog entries from yesterday (hostnames are changed to
make designations in this conversation more intuitive):

sendmail not sending after reboot
HI folks,
I've an up-to-date CentOS 5.x box on a small intranet (<20 users).
We did a reboot over the weekend and all appears well except that
clients on the LAN can no longer send email. Just hangs/times out. No
clear identifiers in the /var/log/maillog or /var/log/messages.
We're not setup for ESMTP as it's a closed network and I'm really hoping
for a kickstart as to

sendmail stops accepting e-mail after sending 40 to 50 messages
i have a centos box (vps) with sendmail and i'am using it to
send a newsletter to mail clients.
I'am using a machine in my local network to send the e-mails
via SMTP (AUTH PLAIN) but after sending some e-mail (35 .. 50)
the connection starts to get closed by the server
(centos/sendmail)
I've searched google for a limit configuration on number of
e-mails in sendmail but

sendmail config finding wrong relay
Hi all,
I set my sendmail.mc file to have a SMART_HOST entry of mail.xyz.com
I do "make" and "service sendmail restart" ... I should be good, but no. :)
If I do "host mail.xyz.com" I get the correct address and if I "telnet
mail.xyz.com 25" I get
a connection.
however when I do a test mail - its trying to RELAY to another host.
I thought SMART_HOST was

warnquota email domain ?
Dear All,
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, or if I'm just being daft,
but I can't get warnquota to send emails to the right address.
When I put a test user (gollum) over quota, and run warnquota on a server
(nfs2.lmb.internal), the email generated by warnquota appears in the maillog
as "to=<gollum at nfs2.lmb.internal>," What I need is the email to

slow sendmail going out
I am trying to find a way to "speed" up sendmail going out of my box.
I am setting SMART_HOST. Dont get me wrong email does go out it just takes
like 3-4 minutes to get there.
When I do "mail xxxx at y.com" and send it the /var/log/maillog file shows
the connection and shows the relay as [127.0.0.1]. Then it just SITS
there for a long time.
Then it picks up the mail and

sendmail and rbl blocking - generating statistics
I have enabled the feature in sendmail.mc to check with spamhaus for
spammers. However since this block is being made at MTA level, I would
like to know is something can be done to obtain statistics of blocked
attemps.
thanks

sendmail maillog rotation on centos 4
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out which process is rotating my maillog every
Sunday at 4:03 am. This happens on all of my centos 4 boxes.
AFAICT, logrotate is not running. This is from a fairly minimal
install, so I'm assuming this is a default process.

voicemail to email sending problems
I have a box that will send to my personal pop/web based email but will not send to my exchange server. I have checked the MX record and DNS settings. I know there is something you can do like this to check it but it returns either a -1 or 0 (have no idea what that means)
