syncrepl in OpenLDAP 2.3.x (CentOS 5) and updating on a replica
Hi,
I have a setup with two CentOS 5 machines running OpenLDAP 2.3.x,
right now the primary uses slurpd to send the updates to the second
server, and the second server is using "updatedn" to allow updates
(from what I understand! I'm no OpenLDAP guru here.) Clients are using
pam_ldap and nss_ldap to get the users and authenticate them in LDAP.
Right now hosts query only the primary

pam_ldap and nss_ldap failover
I'm (finally) getting around to putting a backup LDAP authentication
server on my network. The backup uses syncrepl to grab the database,
and to my eyes both LDAP servers answer read queries identically.
I'm testing the client side of this configuration on virtual CentOS 5
i386 machine. /etc/ldap.conf reads
----- %< -----
base dc=DOMAIN,dc=com

idmap problem
Hi,
I configured a SaMBa PDC and a BDC with a master and a slave OpenLDAP. I set
up TLS, because I wanted secure syncrepl. Slapd runs with -h ldap://
127.0.0.1/ ldaps.///.
I successfully joined an XP client to the servers' domain, I see shares (but
I havent logged in as a domain user, because I have to create a default
profile first).
My problem is in the log.winbindd-idmap log file:

Changing Windows Passwords
I have 6 domain controllers that were running samba-tng using openldap,
Six months ago I converted one of the controllers to Samba3.0.20 and
exported my ldap information to be compatible with Samba, every works
fine. Specifically I could change passwords at the local windows
machine. Two weeks ago I converted my other 5 controllers to
Samba3.0.21b everything works except changing passwords at

Samba and ldap failover - RH / Centos problem?
Hi folks,
I recently got my ldap master slave samba test environment up and runing.
samba-3.0.33-3.15.el5_4.1
openldap-2.3.43-3.el5
The ldap systems sync fine, samba users are authenticated by each server
seperatly if I set tham in the samba conf.
E.g. passdb backend = ldapsam:"ldap://ldap2.filmakademie.de" and
passdb backend = ldapsam:"ldap://ldap1.filmakademie.de"
work.

Multiple userdb possible?
Hello,
I am running v2.0.13. In my dovecot.conf I have:
userdb {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-usrdb-ldap.conf
driver = ldap
}
passdb {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-passdb-ldap.conf
driver = ldap
}
Is it legitimate to include multiple ldap userdb's, like:
userdb {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-usrdb-ldap1.conf
driver = ldap
}
passdb {
args =

Samba LDAP Failover
Hi,
I have a quite "simple" setup for a particular customer that loves
redundancy and failover.
PDC + BDC with LDAP Passwords on two 389-ds in multimaster node +
several samba member servers
Actually pointing singularly on both the systems everything works great.
As soon as I modify my passdb backend line from the single form to the
form containing both backends that is

smbclient fails when LDAP server is down
Hi all,
I?m having some trouble setting up a samba failover scenario.
This is what I?ve done:
Subnet 192.168.1.0 -> Samba PDC e Samba BDC
Subnet 192.168.20.0 -> LDAP Master e LDAP Slave
If all servers are up I can login to domain. If I put the LDAP Master
service down I am still able to login from the Slave LDAP. But if the server
where the master LDAP is installed is down

apache mod_authnz_ldap: multiple servers syntaxes
Hello,
I'm trying this here first before moving to the apache list. Maybe
someone of you use mod_authnz_ldap with multiple ldap servers
declaration for redundancy.
With one server declared it is working.
Here is what I've tried for adding another one (space separated as read
in the apache's doc) :

This helped me a little bit forward. I suggest to add this line also to
samba-pdc help.
But still I ran into problems.
I fixed the passdb lines on PDC and BDC. If the second server (on PDC

samba_3_0+ldapsam: Bug?
Hi,
after upgrading samba 3.0 from ~ Jan. 03 cvs -> today's cvs, samba
crashes while contacting an LDAP server.
If I try:
$ smbclient -L localhost -Udariush%pass
smbd logs the following:

Dovecot + Postfix postmulti SASL

Our Postfix setup uses multi-instance feature. I would like to enable
dovecot SASL mechanisms in postfix. Open two unix sockets is not a

samba+ldap passwd sync
Hi !
I'm in trouble...
I'm in the way of building a FreeBSD Samba server with LDAP support.
So far, everything works great except password synchronization.
It is the only thing I need left to do before my server goes into
production, so I'm really looking for help.
What I need is to be able to synchronize the Windows passwords with the
Unix passwords. All passwords are stored in

XP not joining domain
Hi
I have a small problem with joining a XP box to a Samba domain, which I
hope that someone can put some light on.
The setup:
Samba 3.0.4 using ldap for users. All users are created with both posix
and samba accounts. Users can login with ssh (pam/nss), smbclient and net
use \\pdc\share /USER:username (also from XP pro).
W2k workstations can join the domain.
When I try to join a XP (pro)

SAMBA configuration nightmare (AIX) - idmaps do not work (core dump), ldap/nss_ldap and pam fail
Well, I have tried really hard to get any of the idmaps to work--in
that, idmap_ads, idmap_rid, and I have tried to use idmap stroage in
ldap with padl (nss_ldap) too, but I have had no luck. If I enable pam
in /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg or nss_ldap, I cannot log into the
system anymore. If I enable pam in /etc/pam.conf and use in
/etc/security/users SYSTEM = "WINBINd or WINBIND[UNAVAIL]
