NetworkManager constantly overwriting /etc/resolve.conf - how to disable?
Hi all, I have a CentOS 5.4 server-only installation, i.e. no X installed, and for some odd reason /etc/resolve.conf gets overwritten by NetworkManager on a constant basis. I haven't been able to track down how often, but I think it's on the hour, or something. This is the conents of the file right now: # Generated by NetworkManager # No nameservers found; try putting DNS servers into

Resolv.conf being overwritten
I am trying to add 127.0.0.1 to my resolv.conf. I added it through the system-config-network but if I reboot, its gone. I do not have the caching nameserver package installed. My ISP's nameservers are there. It must have something to do with DHCP. Also, in the network config GUI, should I select the IPv6 option for either or both network cards? TIA

Who deletes/edits my resolv.com ?
Every now and again the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf on my CentOS-6.5 server are commented out. I used to think this was the fault of NetworkManager, but I've stopped running that on the server (using the network service instead) and the nameserver removal still occurs. I'm baffled by the motivation for this, as I can't think of any situation where it would be of advantage to have

fresh install - resolv.conf error?
Before I submit as a bug, has anyone else encountered -- doing a fresh, clean install of CentOS-3 results in a resolv.conf with only my secondary nameserver listed and the search domain. The install works fine, the eth0 and eth1 (onboard e100's) are detected, all the right info entered, etc -- typical by the book textmode (not GUI) install that I'd normally do with RH9/RHEL3. Static

/etc/resolv.conf - Number of Nameservers
What is the maximum number of nameservers mentioned in /etc/resolv.conf which will be queried while looking up a hostname or IP address in the present version ? Earlier implementations had a ceiling of 3 name servers which could be queried. Has there been any increase ? Thanks, Manish

/etc/resolv.conf changes
Hello all, I'm getting frustrated attempting to understand; I googled and asked folks and am unable to get a straight answer. 1. How is the /etc/resolv.conf file maintained ? I do not seem to get a consistent result when I save resolv.conf configuration from GUI or by hand using vim /etc/resolv.conf. a. Sometimes I the entries toggles between the two entries: # generated by

resolv.conf
Hello you all, this is a bit OT but I think I'll find some people here that can help. We have 4 DCs all on the same site. This is working fine. 3 Are VMs one is a physical server. They are the only DNS servers in that network. On a member server running our icinga2 installation I have this in the resolv.conf: options rotate timeout:2 retries:1 search example.com nameserver x.x.x.x (ip dc1)

''To be a DC'', servers have to add/update some DNS record. If you have a single DC, there's no choice. ;-) If you have more than a DC, you have to pay attention to have as DNS not the DC itself

NetworkManager and /etc/resolv.conf
CentOS 7.5 image running on linode. unbound running on localhost. Have to use a cron job once a minute to keep /etc/resolv.conf using the localhost for name resolution - whenever NetworkManager gets restarted (usually only a system boot) it gets over-written. It seems every distro has a different way of preventing NetworkManager from replacing that file. I found instructions for Fedora that

alternative nameserver from local network
hi, I have a debian system with shorewall acting as a router between my adsl line and my local network. One of the things on that local network is my playstation, and I''m having trouble playing an online game with it - the game tries to access the internet, and then fails at the stage where it tries to find the game servers. The debian machine is 192.168.0.3, and the playstation is
