my fonts look horrible (centos5.3/xfce)
Hi all,
I can't seem to get my fonts to look decent under CentOS. I was able to
make them look pretty good under Ubuntu, but for the life of me I can't
make them look decent on CentOS.

Flash Drive problem?
I've been having an odd problem lately. When I drag files from the
computer to a flash drive, they appear to copy, but when I try to use
the files I find that only the name was copied (file size of 0). When
I copy the same files to the same flash drive, from the terminal,
everything seems to work.
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? It's starting to get
a little frustrating.

Best mobile SSH client?
I'm up for a cell phone contract renewal and am considering upgrading
my handset. I looked at some devices at my local AT&T store but
nothing really jumped out at me. I'm particularly interested in a
cell phone that has a reliable ssh client, with ssh-agent and public
key authentication abilities. Those of you who administer systems
remotely, what mobile ssh client do you recommend?

How to tell if I've been hacked?
There is a lot of talk about the vulnerable Linux kernel. I'm simply
wondering the telltale signs if a given system has been hacked?
What, specifically, does a person look for?
Thanks.

good small registrar?
Greetings,
What are some registrars that members of this list have had good experience
with? I was stepping through the godaddy checkout process, and being
opted-in to a dozen different upsell features just left a bad impression.
But I have no clue who else to go with.

get xen name from guest
Hello,
Is it possible to get the name that was set in a VM's xen config file
from the guest machine? I'm interested in having my kickstart launch a
script that can configure hostname, but to do that it would need to get
the name set in the config.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi guys,
I''ve seen this post regarding "lvm resize" and this contains all the

i/o scheduler deadlocks with loopback devices

I''m able to consistently reproduce lockups in my domU with heavy I/O

poweredge 1950 hangs at starting udev
Hi all,
I have a PowerEdge 1950 that was acting weird. Network connectivity was
only performing at a quarter of what was expected (if that). Even if I
scp'd something to localhost it would perform poorly. Rather than fight
with it, I just decided to reload it. It was running 5.3, and it is now
running 5.4. However, when I go to boot it gets stuck at starting udev.
If I let it sit

OT: Web "Project" type software
Sorry for the OT... I'm looking for some software to fill a fairly
specific set of requirements. I'm not necessarily looking for project
software, but it seems like the closest to match what I need. I'm also
not tied into open source or free. If anyone knows of any software that
might fill these requirements I would appreciate it.
Here's what I'm looking for:

Configuring Xen + DRBD + Corosync + Pacemaker
Hi everyone,
I need some help to setup my configuration failover system.
My goal is to have a redundance system using Xen + DRBD + Corosync +
Pacemaker
On Xen I will have one virtual machine. When this computer has network
down, I will do a Live migration to the second computer.
The first configuration I will need is a crossover cable, won''t I? It is
really necessary? Ok, I did it. eth0

Windows Xen VM's have high guest CPU usage and poor performance
Hello all,
I have a PowerEdge 2950 that I am using to host Windows XP VM's under
CentOS. I am experiencing poor performance in the Xen VM's. Any time I
try to do something, the CPU usage (as reported by the Windows task
manager) hits 100% for a few and then drops back down. This is causing
the VM's to run sluggish and be quite annoying to use. Example.. I
click IE.. cpu hits

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Hello everyone,
I''m quite a newbie with Xen and I''m currently having an issue.
I run Xen 4 on Debian Squeeze x64 and I''m trying to build an OpenFiler DomU from the Xen domU filesystem tarbal they provide (See http://www.openfiler.com/community/download/).
I downloaded the tarball and run ''tar xzpvf /root/soft/openfiler-2.3-x86_64.tar.gz'' to extract

Autodetecting backing file properties when using vol-create-as
Hi all,
experimenting with vol-create-as, I think it should autodetect some data
- filesize and backing file format, specifically. However, the current
implementation require us to specify both filesize and backing file
format.
Considering that qemu-img already autodetects these data, there are any
reason for the lack of autodetect by libvirt? Should I open a bugzilla
issue?
