yum issue with extras repo?
Hello All, As you can see below I am having a problem checking for updates. This happens repeatedly. I have to kill the process then rerun. I have tried "yum clean all" but no joy - the process hangs again on "extras" - see second listing below. Suggestions? RAID advice? and KVM advice?
Hello All, In the not too distant future I will be commissioning a new CentOS (5.4?) box with 4 identical SATA drives. I'd like to set them up as RAID 1+0 for speed and redundancy. I've read the RHEL 5 deployment guide on raid setup and it seems to cover the basics of software raid pretty well, but doesn't cover 1+0. Does anyone have a reference for that kind of

gftp crashing on IPv6 to vsftp
I am running vsftp pretty much 'out of the box', though I turned off IPv4 and have it listening on IPv6. I have stopped ip6tables, as the simple rule to enable port 21 is not allowing gftp to connect (pasv mode, I think). gftp to the IPv6 address, it connects and gets a directory listing. I am running gftp from my normal login userid, connecting to my normal login userid on the

sFTP (client) RPM for CentOS 5.3 (32 bit) and/or putty-tools
I installed gFTP but apparently it does not handle the sFTP protocol. I also installed the FireFTP Add On for the Firefox browser, but when I tried to connect to the server, it says that I need putty-tools. I have the rpmforge and epel repositories configured but yum did not find putty-tools. Is there an RPM for a client program for gFTP or putty-tools? If so, in which repository? TIA! 1443

I can seem to do an anonymous login, but that is as far as I can go. Is there a known issue with the site today? Thanks, Marc

"rsync: not found" error with sshwindows
I'm trying to copy files from a Linux system to a Windows XP system running sshwindows. I can use gFTP and log in just fine. sshwindows is based on cygwin so you just use /cygdrive/c/ to access the Windows C: drive, etc. But for some reason, rsync is having problems transferring files to this system: [1710][~]$ rsync -av /tmp/foo.txt user@windowsbox.com:/cygdrive/c/

Looking for some recommendations for applications on CentOS (MP3, FTP)
Last time I asked for some recommendations on this list, I was told about some great software that I hadn't been able to find myself, so I'd like to ask again. I've been having a hard time finding software that satisfies in the following 2 areas: 1. MP3 player and play list manager. Something that can ideally generate smart playlists based on MP3 tags. (I've tried XMMS, Amarok,

FTP through the firewall to non standard FTP port fails
Hi, all. Shorewall Version: 1.3.12 I''m unable to list files (using PASV *or* PORT mode) on any FTP site that listens on a port other than 21 (from a client machine behind Shorewall -- from the Shorewall box I can list files no problem on the same sites) I have "Netfilter FTP" support compiled IN the kernel. Any ideas? My rule set is pretty generic. LOC -> NET Policy to
