xeyes kills freenx session
I was trying an assortment of things to get a remote X session working
(where I had forgotten to install the xauth package...) and noticed
that running xeyes kills my freenx session. This happened whether in
the NX/freenx session itself or when run on a remote machine via 'ssh
-Y', started from a window in a freenx session. Is that a known
problem or do I have something set up wrong?

x2go (vs. freenx)?
Is anyone using x2go on Centos - and if so, is there any reason to
think about switching from freenx? The old NX client for mac was a
powerpc binary and is no longer supported under mountain lion - and
their new alpha release crashed my mac after an OSX update so I'm
curious if there is anything better around. (And I didn't like the
way the new mac version changed the screen scaling

Mac client to freenx?
Now that Mac lion/mountain lion versions of OSX don't support the old
powerpc binaries like the NX 3.5 client any more, what is the best
approach to connect to freenx on Centos - the new 'nxplayer' from
nomachine.com, opennx, or something else? Google seems to show mixed
opinions and quirks with each.

freenx vs vmware console
After upgrading to 5.2 and the current freenx, when I start the vmware
server console (from VMware-server-1.0.6-91891) in the NX client I get
Xlib: extension "XFree86-VidModeExtension" missing on display ":1000.0".
in the terminal window where vmware was started and a black screen where
the console of the virtual machine is supposed to be. Is there a way to
make this work?

freenx 7.3?
Has anyone built a freenx 7.3 for Centos 5? I'd like to be able to use
the session shadow mode on some machines.

freenx vs KVM Virtual Machine Manager - mouse poiner
When I run the GUI Virtual Machine Manager in an NX/freenx session and
open a console to a windows guest VM (haven't tried Linux w/X as a
guest yet), the mouse point location does not track correctly. Is
there some setting to improve this? X2go seems better in this
respect but I'm not sure I want to switch yet. Normally I'd use vnc
or remote-desktop connections directly to the

ssh -Y X-forwarding?
On rare occasions I want to run a remote X command (like 'meld' to
interactively merge changes in files) and normally 'ssh -Y
remote_host' from a terminal in an NX/freenx window that is acting as
my desktop to start and any X program subsequently started would open
in a new window via X-forwarding - at least when the target is a 5.x
host. I don't do it often enough to remember

freenx not working with newly installed centos 6.4
hi,
this is not the same as http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=6298
I can login with ssh but not with freenx
With 6.3 this worked, I just spinned some new servers and now I can no
longer use freenx.

Freenx/x2go on CentOS7?
Can anyone comment on the best remote GUI approach for C7 yet?
X2goserver is in epel but when I tried it on the RHEL beta it only
worked with a KDE desktop due to the 3d requirement of Gnome3.

KVM console?
I finally got access to some machines with more resources than the
free VMware ESXi license allows which pushed me into trying kvm
instead. Seems capable enough for what I need and can even import and
run the existing vmdk images I already have. But, I have some
questions about accessing the virt-manager console remotely for
initial configuration, etc.. Normally I use freenx for remote GUI

FreeNx doesn't work?
I have installed freenx with this article
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/FreeNX

I always get an "freenx Authentication failed."
client err log output as this:

FreeNX issues
I have just installed freenx on two seperate centos 5.0 boxes. I had freenx server working before performing a "yum update" (which upgraded centos to 5.1). I then rebooted the box and now the display starts to show on the client, but then terminates the connection for no reason (at least nothing in any server logs). Below is the session info on the client machine.

resuming FreeNX sessions
I've been running a FreeNX session for several days.
During that time, I have occasionally lost the connect and when I
re-establish the connection, it resumes where I left off and it was
really nice.
Tonight I lost the connection and when I reconnected, it started a new
session but when I run NX Session Administrator application on the
FreeNX server, it still shows the session as

freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm is in testing
We have created a new version of freenx (freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm)
and moved it to the testing repo.
This is based on the code displayed at the LWE in San Francisco ...

(though it is not officially released as stable by the freenx people)
This version should handle printing and reconnecting to running sessions

(?) Loss of fullscreen mode with freenx-0.5.0-8.c4
I've currently got the nx-1.5.0-1.centos4.i386, freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch, and nxclient-1.5.0-141.i386 packages installed on a couple
of CentOS 4 update 3 systems and I'm getting the same results on all of them. I got the new version of freenx via "yum update" and
it appears to have "broken" fullscreen mode. The connection config file I have been using does have the

As long as it is right and people keep arguing with it, I guess.
