Bug#786936: xen-hypervisor-4.4-amd64: Upgrade dom0 from wheezy to jessie on Dell R610 results in dom0 unaccessible with xen_netback issue
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.4-amd64 Version: 4.4.1-9 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system Dear Maintainer, After upgrading the R610 server from Debian 7 to Debian 8, the dom0 becomes unresponsive via ssh after an hour or so, although the domUs still remain accessible. Initially we thought it may be a disk space issue on / or /boot so action was taken to increase those

Accessing console for Xen 4.0 with 2.6.31 pvops kernel on Dell Poweredge R610
I am currently using a Dell PowerEdge server R610 with Xen 4.0 installed and the 2.6.31.13 pvops kernel. I am accessing the server console using the iDRAC KVM feature of the dell management console. Does anyone know how to configure the console option in the grub menu so that all the boot messages can be seen on the mgmt console? Currently I can view only the Xen bootup messages if I dont specify

Controlling allocation of ethernet devices and KVM
Running Centos 5.4 with KVM on a Dell R610 server and I'd like to control which of the four ethernet interfaces are used for specific tasks My ideal configuration would be eth0 - Host traffic only, no virtual guests. Used for guest mirroring and management. eth1 - NAT guest traffic only, no address for local machine and in some environments in the same zone as eth0 eth2/3 - Allocated to two

Any recommendations on Perc H700 controller on Dell Rx10 ?
Hi folks: At work, I have an R510, and R610 and an R710 - all with the H700 PERC controller. Based on experiments, it seems like there is no way to bypass the PERC controller - it seems like one can only access the individual disks if they are set up in RAID0 each. This brings me to ask some questions: a. Is it fine (in terms of an intelligent controller coming in the way of ZFS) to have the

lpxelinux hangs on R610 with recent BIOS, works with old BIOS
Decided to try out lpxelinux on a couple of Dell R610s. Both versions 5.10 and 6.03 hung on a server with fairly up-to-date BIOS (6.1.0), but work fine on another R610 with old BIOS (1.2.6). Watching the TFTP log and running tcpdump on the PXE server, I see it download pxelinux.0 (renamed from lpxelinux.0), but it never even tries to transfer anything after that succeeds. It eventually (seems

bnx2 losing connectivity
Hoping someone else has seen this before. I have a few dozen Dell R610 systems with CentOS 5.2 that are using kernels from 5.3 and 5.4 (2.6.18-128.1.10.el5 & 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5), that at random lose layer 2 network connectivity either partially or totally. Running tcpdump on the interface reveals only ARP broadcasts, no responses. Switch reports no packets being received on the interface.

Running on Dell hardware?
I have a Dell R710 which has been flaky for some time. It crashes about once per week. I have literally replaced every piece of hardware in it, and reinstalled Sol 10u9 fresh and clean. I am wondering if other people out there are using Dell hardware, with what degree of success, and in what configuration? The failure seems to be related to the perc 6i. For some period around the time

Recommended Best way to Upgrade/Update Xen
This might be a silly question for most, but since Xen is ever so changing with regular changesets and updates, what is the "best practice" way to upgrade / update or even downgrade Xen? 1.) Is it by booting into regular Linux Kernel without Xen, do a complete uninstall of the old Xen, than install the newly compiled Xen? 2.) Is it by booting into regular Linux Kernel without Xen,

ZFS slows down over a couple of days
Hi all, I have exchanged my Dell R610 in favor of a Sun Fire 4170 M2 which has 32 GB RAM installed. I am running Sol11Expr on this host and I use it to primarily serve Netatalk AFP shares. From day one, I have noticed that the amount of free RAM decereased and along with that decrease the overall performance of ZFS decreased as well. Now, since I am still quite a Solaris newbie, I seem to

Xen and I/O Intensive Loads
Hi, folks, I''m attempting to run an e-mail server on Xen. The e-mail system is Novell GroupWise, and it serves about 250 users. The disk volume for the e-mail is on my SAN, and I''ve attached the FC LUN to my Xen host, then used the "phy:/dev..." method to forward the disk through to the domU. I''m running into an issue with high I/O wait on the box (~250%)

64 Bit?
Hi, I have access to remote VMware ESX server. Don't really know what the underlying hardware is. Looked at a few dmesg results. As always there is a bunch of stuff I understand and a bunch more that I don't understand. I'd really like to know if it's a 64 Bit CPU, before I create my next VM. But, I can't tell from the dmesgs I've looked at. -- Drew Einhorn

Windows 2008 SBS suddenly disappearing on Xen 4.0.0
Hi all, when running Windows 2008 SBS on Xen 4.0.0, it disappears after some time (longest time I had it running was 20 minutes). In /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-win1.log I find: xc_map_foreign_batch: mmap failed: Cannot allocate memory xc_map_foreign_bulk error 12 Anyone any idea how to troubleshoot this? The Hypervisor has 16 GB of RAM, currently 2 GB are allocated to Dom0. This specific DomU has 8
