/dev/tty*: not a character device after reboot
Hello All
I just recently adopted a server with Gentoo/Xen as domain0 server with several domainUs attached to it. Please forgive my xen-noobness, but I was hoping that someone can help me out.
These images have not been updated in a long time, and I''m trying to get all the domainUs updated with their appropriate services patches, etc. I''m currently working on one Gentoo

Serial Console Config in 6.5
Alle,
After upgrading from 6.4 to 6.5, our serial console configuration non

# ttyS0 - agetty
#
# This service maintains a agetty on ttyS0.
stop on runlevel [S016]
start on runlevel [23]
respawn
exec agetty -h -L -w /dev/ttyS0 115200 vt100

Unable to xm console in a running domU
Hi list,
I am running a virtualized server. Dom0 uses Xen 3.2.1 with Debian
Etch and a custom kernel 2.6.21 created by my webhosting company.
I install my domU using debootstrap for a Debian Etch with
2.6.18-6-xen-amd64 kernel. Everything works well except the fact that
once the VM is started I cannot "xm console" into it. It only works
while it is booting and while it is shutting

CentOS 6: /etc/init/start-ttys.conf ignored
hi
why are tty3-tty6 started after this config change?
i would like to have only tty1 finally becasue on a virtual machine
there is no need for the other processes since CTRL+ALT+Fx is caught
by the own system and remote console mostly not needed at all
[root at centos ~]# cat /etc/init/start-ttys.conf
#
# This service starts the configured number of gettys.

Xen Virtual Console xvc (Was: Re: Pardon me for possibly dumb question but....)

xvc0 is a xen virtual console and does not correspond directly to a physical
device that I am aware of.

Serial console
I am trying to get a CentOS 6.3 serial console to work with IPMI SOL. I think I
have everything working but maybe the wrong baud rate on the getty:
$ ipmitool -I lanplus -U root -H 10.0.0.14 sol activate
Password:
[SOL Session operational. Use ~? for help]
??????????
10.0.0.14 is the DRAC IP address of the CentOS 6.3 box. It accepts the password
and connects me to the console but then when I

Clean serial console setup when using an USB to serial converter
Hello all,
I'd like to connect to a CentOS 5.2 system's console through a
null-modem cable. An USB to serial converter is connected to that
system's USB port.
When using this configuration statement in "/etc/inittab"...

# Run gettys on serial line (that is, a serial line connected to USB0)

How to get a framebuffer console on dom0
Hi all,
I''m trying hard to get a framebuffer console on a dom0 (Ubuntu
7.04/Debian Etch with (virtual)framebuffer support compiled it +
Xen3.1) and already tried different tutorials, e.g. starting dom0 with
kernel parameters
- "xencons=xvc console=xvc0 console=tty1"
or
- "xencons=ttyS0 console=ttyS0 video=xenfb" and appending
"S0:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty
