Custom kernel RPM/SRPM
Hi,
I've built customs kernels from the SRPMs with the following:
rpmbuild -bp --target=i686 /path/to/spec
cd /usr/src
ln -s /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-x.y.z/linux-x.y.z linux
cd linux
make oldconfig
make menuconfig
make all
make modules
make modules_install
And it works just fine. The problem now is that I think installing
that way isn't

updating rpm
Hello,
I'm looking for an updated version of rpm itself. The minimum
version i need is 4.4.2.3-15.el5.x86_64 though i'd assume anything after
that would work as well.
Thanks.
Dave.

Trying to rebuild srpm from fedora....
So I am trying to rebuild this source rpm from fedora
10, shutter-0.85.1-1.fc10.src.rpm -its a screen capture application (
http://shutter-project.org/ ) that I have been unable to find in any repos,
although it is in the fedora repos. Thought I would give it a go and try to
rebuild the rpm, so here is the error that I am getting:
+ desktop-file-install --delete-original --dir

Postfix 2.2.x RPM ETA
Guys
I'm desperately looking for a postfix 2.2.x SRPM. I currently use 2.1.5..
I've found these, http://ftp.wl0.org/yum/postfix/2.2/rhel4/SRPMS.postfix/
Has anyone tried them, or can anyone recommend a proper SRPM for me
for Centos 4.1?
Kind regards

Hi Ignacio,
I'm running Centos 4.2 on some machines and just wonder which is the
correct procedure to build one of your packages i've fonund in the
fedora.ivazquez.net for FC4 but for CentOs for kernel-modules:

Looking for gfs2-kmod SRPM
I'm searching for the SRPM corresponding to this installed RPM.
% yum list | grep gfs2
gfs2-kmod-debuginfo.x86_64 1.92-1.1.el5_2.2
It is missing from:
http://msync.centos.org/centos-5/5/os/SRPMS/
What I need from the SRPM are the patches. I'm working through
some issues using the source code, and the patches in the RedHat

rebuilding firefox-2.0.0.16 from fc8
hello,
I started with
ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/updates/8/SRPMS/firefox-2.0.0.16-1.fc8.src.rpm
with the hope of rebuilding it for el5/centos.
All of the dependencies were available (mostly from rpmforge) except one: something called system-bookmarks. I elected to comment out this from the spec, firefox.spec
I did the extracts with CPIO
rpm2cpio firefox-xxx.src.rpm |

Sorry .. all the SRPMs except centos-release and anaconda are in 6.8/cr/
in vault.
Let me do anaconda and centos-release now and then I'll hardlink the
others into 6.9/os along with those.
Should be out in about an

RHWAS rebuild efforts
There is a new Web Application Stack that I would like to get the RPMS
for into CentOS Plus. I am trying to get the upstream provider to the
provide these SRPMS to their public FTP server, but so far they are not
there:

These RPMS would be a major add to CentOSPlus .... as they would provide

Where's v5.3 source RPMs?
It seems that the mirrors are now all sync'd with the binary RPMs, but
where are the source packages?
The source RPMs are available for the few packages updated since the
upstream 5.3 release, but the SRPMS for the release itself are
missing.
Example: http://mirror.centos.org/centos-5/5.3/os/ has directories
containing the x86 and x86_64 binaries, but should also have a SRPMS
directory.

Missing sources in CentOS 6.0
Hello everyone,
In the 6.0 release, I have found a gap in the provided source under the SRPMS/ directories on the mirrors.
Let's take the 'bash' source as the first example. The version of bash that I find in the binary x86_64 directories is:
http://mirror.centos.org/centos-6/6.0/os/x86_64/Packages/bash-4.1.2-3.el6.x86_64.rpm
One would expect to find the source to that binary at:

MC
I've tried to install midnight commander on centos3.1 final. No luck in
installing it via yum install. When I download src.rpm from centos2 updates
SRPMS I couldn't rebuild it. RPM --rebuild mc*.src.rpm didn't work (no
rebuild option). What can I do then ?

We already have other examples of how to do this with less steps. :-)
Create macros like
%{r_sitearch}
%{r_sitelib}
that expand with the R version being used and place them

downloading postfix srpm
guys,
for some reason this is just eluding me. I need to download a source
rpm for postfix as I've done many times in the past. But when I go to
the available packages section of the postfix site and click on my
architecture this is what I see:
http://ftp.wl0.org/official/2.9/RPMS-rhel5-x86_64/
Maybe I'm missing something obvious here? If you needed to download a
source rpm for

pgadmin3
Anyone been able to get pgadmin3 installed on CentOS-4 ?
The WxGTK2 stuff makes it impossible for me to get installed from
RPM/SRPM from their site and likewise, couldn't rebuild from Fedora
SRPMS either.
I figure between Jim and Owen and ???, somebody might have succeeded
where I would be doomed. I can get around with phppgadmin but pgadmin3
is pretty cool.
Thanks

Create page about rebuilding SRPMS and preparing RPM environment
Hello,
As discussed on the centos-users list, I would like to create some
pages on the CentOS Wiki with instructions on how to set up your
environment to build RPMs and how to rebuild RPMs. This content today
exists here:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source#head-a8dae925eec15786df9f6f8c918eff16bf67be0d
I would suggest creating these two:
