Create Local CentOS 5.1 repo
I am trying to create a local base repo from the DVD on a webserver as I am not able to install with the x64 DVD. I have done this before I recall by placing the DVD contents in the root of an empty webserver, but I have many existing repo's on this current server and so I wanted to maintain the existing hierarchy structure.
I tried using the createrepo command and neither that nor copying

update from local repo mirror
so this may be an odd question, but my google fu seems to be failing me.
I've created a local mirror of centos 5 & 6 with various instructions
across the net, it seems to be functional, syncs on a regular basis, and is
generally usable (I've built machines with kickstart/netboot from it and
they seem generally workable). my difficulty comes up when I try to use
the local mirror for

How should I create a repo on Centos 2.1?
I tracked down a createrepo rpm "for RHL 7.x, AS 2.1" etc (hosted by
Dag), but it's uninstallable.
Eventually I managed to create an rpm from the source (actually, that's
fairly easy when onw knows to say "python2"), but python-urlgrabber has
completely defeated me.
According to Dag, the problem is that "upstream" doesn't see the need to

Local repo sqlite files?
Hi all,
I'm updating a customised CentOS 5.2 repo to 5.4. After running createrepo,
I find all the usual .xml.gz files updated, but the sqlite.bz2 files have not
been touched. What is the significance of these files? If they need to be
updated, how is it done?

createrepo command for 6.4 respin
Hi List,
I have been searching for the correct createrepo command to make a 6.4 respin.
We have been doing this with previous versions using
createrepo -u "media://$discinfo" -g ${DIR}/my_kickstart${VER}/comps.xml .
Which had worked fine until now.
Thanks,

Headers update frequency in local repo
Hi all,
I'm trying to build a local repo as a mirror of basic repos ([Basic],
[Update],[Addons], [Extras],[CentOSPlus]) and popular third part repos
([Dries],[DAG] and [kbs]). The doubt I have is
?Is needed that I regenerate the repo headers [1] every time when I've
updated the local mirror repo [2]?
[1] Eliminate old headers and generate new ones with createrepo script.

yum repository and createrepo
I've setup a local yum repository for about 25 workstations and I'm
using rsync from a local mirror. Do I need to create my own XML
headers, i.e. the 'repodata' directory, or since I'm syncing the whole
updates directory can I use the 'repodata' directory from the mirror?
I also have a question on using createrepo. The directory layout is:

svn.digium.com down?
Hello all,
Is anyone else experiencing trouble accessing svn.digium.com? Neither
webview nor svn checkout requests are successful. svnview.digium.com works
but svn checkout at this address returns a "repository temporarily

Thanks

OT: Local Mirror problems, wrong paths to RPMs with yum update
This week I set up a local mirror for a few dists, including Centos 4.0
and 4.2, and Fedora Core 3 and 4. I'm using a script called yum-pull.
For the most part I really like the script, it automates the setup of
your mirrors and tries a bunch of different mirrors when it goes out to
get updates, if it fails on one it tries another. It uses the usual
suspects, createrepo and repoview, among

yum update fails for 5.6
google for "centos error performing checksum" refers to createrepo but of
course "yum install createrepo" also fails and the instructions appear to be
overkill. Is there a "simple" soultion?

local repositories
I need a clarification to the documentation.
My manager added a 6.2 repo; however, when I try doing pxeboot installs,
it fails, asserting that it can't find the group info. Another admin I
work with thinks it's not really what it's failing in, and notes that it
404's on images/updates.img and images/product.img. We *think* that's
irrelevant and ok. What is not clear to me is

how to reinit an own repo after adding files?
Hallo,
I try to use my own repo.
The problem:
The repo is working when using it while installing a fresh system using pxe and kickstart.
When changing the content and rebuilding the repo new packages are not found.
My question:
What is the right way to reinit a repo complete? I tried several hints I found in the web but new packages are never found.
Thanks
Ralf
