Any known problems with kernel-2.6.18-164.el5.x86_64 / x86_64 / 3ware?
Hi,
I have a server that is running centos 5.3 x86_64 that until last week was
running fine. With no error messages in console and in /var/log/messages
the server simply stops responding.
After a reboot everything is fine. The only change (that I could find) but
that was not active before the first incident/reboot was the update of the
kernel and friends.
The server (is this can help) is a

Automounter (?) failing in CentOS 5.3
I may have asked about this before, but I can't find any records of so
doing in my saved mail (which includes almost everything I ever read
or write):
All of a sudden, I am not getting flash drives automatically mounted
in CentOS 5.3 with GNOME - they are recognized by the hardware, but
there seems to be a (new?) problem with the maps. Here's the tail end
of dmesg:

Alarming (?) smartd reports
I decided, after the last discussion of smartd and S.M.A.R.T. disks,
to take a look in my /var/log/messages, and I'm seeing fair bit of
this:

udev & libvolume packages not updating
Hi all,
CentOS 5.2, not yet updated to 5.3.
Based on the alert on udev, I attempted to update udev and libvolume
packages with the following result.
A check of what's currently on the system reveals udev-095-14.19.el5
which I believe to be the affected version. Is it just that it hasn't
rolled out to all the mirrors yet?
Thanks in advance,

Packages in 5.4 older than 5.3 updates, and no 5.4 updates available?
I've been checking the updates tree for 5.4 and notice that they're empty.
I checked 4 or 5 different servers and got the same results. This is,
in my experience, unusual; there's typically patches for the new release
from day one. But it could be that the 5.4 DVD is up to date.
So I checked one of my machines and what updates it would need against
5.3 vs those that it would need to

Changing dnsmasq DNS settings for virtual machines
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi everyone,
maybe this is an old fart, but I cant get it to work.
I am running libvirt on a laptop, where a dnsmasq is already running
to delegate dns info for my local (not-public) network. My resolv.conf
(on the host) lists the system-dnsmasq as first server.
I had to set the listen-adress for the system-dnsmasq to 127.0.0.1 and

Samba and dnsmasq
Hello everyone !
Well, I'm setting up a 'new' box with samba 4.9.3 on Ubuntu 18.04
Idea is to use Host OS for Domain Controler (dc1.smb.domain.tld) and a
LXC container (ubuntu 18.04 too) as Domain Member with File Server
(fs.smb.domain.tld).
Administration through Windows OS will be done with a Qemu KVM.
Bad thing is that I get :

Speaking of DNSmasq ....
.... I am getting a bit tired of those pesky DNSmasq entries in my
syslog file, they fill it up about weekly, wash other stuff out of view
on a tail. Is there any way to suppress them. or else increase their
lease time so that they happen less frequently ? Having a finite lease
time for a VM seems nonsensical, it can't go anywhere or disconnect
(obviously) .... I tried restarting DNSmasq,

add external access to routed dnsmasq
I have created a routed virtual network. From within the routed net,
DNS requests to the dnsmasq interface virbr2 work fine.
On the libvirt host, DNS requests to the dnsmasq interface virbr2 work fine.
I would like to allow external hosts, on the same network as the
libvirt host, to query the dnsmasq interface. However external DNS
queries to the virbr2 interface time out.

How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi.
I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and
I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able
to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE.
The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are
conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes
ages untill a VM can

Re: My VMs don't get IP with libvirt and dnsmasq
Hello!
Thanks for your answer.
Well, I think it has to ask for an IP as I have the same configuration in a
different machine (with the same OS) and it works, there I see the DHCP
packets and so on, but not here. And yeah, that pepito.conf file exists,
this is its content:
