VGA passthrough ? AMD-FX8, GA-990FXA-UD3, G210
Hello,
Like many trying and posting here, I''m new to VGA passthrough.
Computer was bought, checking compatibility from
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/VTd_HowTo
The hardware is mostly not exactly on the list, but mainly new versions
of the same series (I think).
IOMMU "seems" to be working (not 100% sure what to check).
I used debian/wheezy kernel and xen, dom0 and HVM domu.

Cannot assign device in Xen-unstable [VT-d]
Hello,
I FINALLY got Xen working with VT-d. I compiled Xen-unstable (3.3) from
Mercurial on CentOS 5.2, but compiled my own kernel-xen from the latest
CentOS SRPM. (Made sure pciback was built-in and not a module, as the stock
kernel-xen has it as a module.) I''m probably going to write a how-to soon,
so stay tuned!
I have a JMicron SATA/PATA PCI Express controller with a DQ35JO

USB blues
I have a freshly built, updated EL6 system and am having problems with
USB stability - at boot everything works fine but within a few hours,
USB devices start disappearing randomly. At first I though the USB
devices were suspect, but removing the suspect devices and an accessory
PCIE USB card hasn't changed anything. As of now, a single USB device is
working. (which is lucky, it hosts the

PCI passthrough of a SATA/PATA controller, "FLR functionality not supported"
Hi there,
I have a question regarding PCI passthrough on the Citrix XenServer 5.6
(Xen 3.4.2).
I already managed to get some soundcard passed through to a Windows
guest. So I think my knowledge about that topic isn''t _that_ low. But I
cannot seem to pass through a SATA/PATA controller to a Linux guest.
I have some additional CD/DVD burner (PATA) attached to a SATA/PATA
controller

Hardware or Software RAID w/CentOS 4.4 & Gigabyte GA-81945GZME-RH motherboard
Hi all,
Helping a friend setup a new machine - it will be a low volume web and
mail server. He wants to set it up with 2 drives in a mirror setup. The
motherboard he bought supports mirroring on the hardware level.
I have heard of issues before using hardware raid on Linux systems.
Which way would you recommend we go on this?
Thanks for any suggestions.

SATA on Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 MB
Hi Gang!
I've got this (now old) Gigabyte motherboard (GA-7N400 Pro2), I've had it
for just over 3 years.
I use it, so far, with only PATA devices.
I'm toying with the idea of buying a matched pair of SATA drives and when
I install Centos 5 (hopefully soon), building it with software raid (using
the two drives as mirrors of each other).
Now, I wouldn't have ever even thought of

then I create a syslinux.cfg menu and I add these files : chain.c32

Help with a good recovery plan.. Linux rescue?
Hello All,
I have a machine that crashed. Some part of the motherboard (power
supply-related) went south.
The motherboard, CPU and memory have been replaced with a much newer
architecture. The OS and data are intact on two SATA drives that were
RAID1 with LVM.
I am going to use 'linux rescue' to recover the LVM backup so I can
mount the RAIDs (there were two) in a new CentOS

bug in syslinux 6.01 with gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L
Hello,
I didn't try 6.02-pre15, I will do and I will post the results,
my keyboard is a PS/2 model, the "legacy USB storage option" is enabled,
I tried also an USB keyboard but there is no change, so it's not a
keyboard problem, it probably something in syslinux ( ldlinux.sys ? )
who create a serious bug with my motherboard,
I tried also with a USB HDD ( not a flash drive )

VGA passthrough - guest shows blank screen on startup
Greetings,
I''m attempting to do gfx_passthru with the primary graphics adapter
(03:00.0), passing it to a guest. I can unbind it from the host but when I
fire up the guest OS my monitor loses signal from the graphics card and
that''s that. The GFX card is dual DVI, I''ve tried both slots. Host is Linux
2.6.32.14-1.2.105.xendom0.fc12.x86_64, Guest is Windows 7. PC is an

Gigabyte motherboards and Syslinux
I read the mailing list archive about Gigabyte motherboards not working
with USB booting ("[syslinux] Gigabyte recent bios & syslinux extlinux
trow USB-IDE bridges or pendrives", 16 Aug 2006).
I have a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H motherboard that I tried to boot in
USB-HDD mode with a PNY boot pen. I installed System Rescue CD on it.
It would appear that Gigabyte still doesn't
