under another kind of attack
Hi Olaf, Since we implemented country blocking, everything seems nicely under control, with only 'normal levels' of knocking. We first have impemented: http://blog.jeshurun.ca/technology/block-countries-ubuntu-iptables-xtables-geoip Then we did: https://github.com/firehol/blocklist-ipsets And finale iptables rules like these: > iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 143 -m geoip

openssh 6.2
To the openssh community; I have installed openssh 6.2 on my mac book pro and tried to ssh to a server and the ssh session hangs. The host server shows that a connection was established but I cannot return a prompt to indicate that I am connected to the server. Can someone advise? Thanks in advance ======>HOST SERVER [ALLOC133 /export/home/tinker] netstat -a |grep msp9022.XX.XXX.COM.ssh

OT: How can I tell if a web site is now blocking IPs from my country?
I have always been able to browse, without any problems, http://www.mobile-review.com/index-en.shtml but for the past 2 or 3 days, Mozilla Firefox just hangs "connecting to ...." How can I tell if they have started blocking IP addresses from Colombia? I would like to do that, before I post to the IPCop mailing list. I have my IPCop box set up to do DNS Caching, so possibly something

References of R in use (SHORT SUMMARY)
Dear R-list, about one month back I posted here a question/idea that it would be nice to have some list of references of R in use plus some other "marketing" arguments for R to promote it. Thanks for all your responses. I was given useful responses from Armin Roehrl, Jim Lemon, Edith Hodgen, Ko-Kang Kevin Wang, Charles Berry, Martin Maechler, Spencer Graves, Paul Gilbert, Adelchi

Fine Tuning Country Map
Dear All, Please see the short script at the end of the email, which I assembled looking for bits and pieces on the web. It essentially does what I need: it plots several countries as a color-coded map. I just would like to fine-tune a bit the final image, in particular (1) Select my own colors for "painting" the countries (i.e. associate manually a color to every level) (2) Be

Thank you for the report, it is a bug in buffering in R (not specific to Windows) and will be fixed. [mod: Forwarded by Jeff Uphoff. I tried to mangle the headers that it appears as the original post: with an invalid return address. -- REW] A few months back, a very alpha version of bliss got posted. That shouldn''t have happened, but, it was pretty much ignored so I didn''t worry about it. But now it seems there''s a bit of a fuss about this. I''ll post the

CentOS6 yum-plugin-fastestmirror spectacular failure
I'm trying to update from the cr repo, but yum-plugin-fastestmirror gets it totally wrong; it selects a mirror in .hk that deliveres bytes per second, and as far as I can tell, most or all of the timedhosts.txt entries are in the Middle or Far East. What's going on? Nobody mirroring cr in other parts of the world? mirrors.ta139.com 99999999999 centos.communilink.net 99999999999

Problem with the fdim package
Hm, I am not an expert in this field but trying to use obviously old package which was removed about 5 years ago from CRAN is asking for problems. There is probably some incompatibility between recent R version and obsolete package. You either 1. need to install/compile R version from 2012 and install/compile this old package for this version. 2. Or you could try to find some similar

Hi Copy your messages to r help, others may give you better advice. Strange, I do not get such error. Beside, from m = t(matrix(data = detrend, nrow = 30)) I expect matrix result, but your str shows that m is list. > m<-list(a=rep(NA, 20), b=rep(1,20)) > colMeans(m, na.rm=T) Error in colMeans(m, na.rm = T) : 'x' must be an array of at least two dimensions So as colMeans help

simple question on data frames assignment
Hi The question does not make much sense so as your code. Maybe you shall spend some time with R tutorials. 1. lapply or sapply is basically hidden cycle 2. function shall return something, yours does not So if you want some binary outcome from a vector you can use e.g. f <- function(vector, token) { response <- vector==token response } So with your colordata >

Merging RData files
Understood. In my case, a.RData and b.RData contain identical variables/data, plus simulation outputs from separate runs. The codes deliver what I need. Good to know the three lines work. Thank you. plotting the regression coefficients
Hi Petr; Thanks so much. This is great! Although last Sunday, alternatively, I have solved the problem using the following statement at the very end of the program. * ggsave('circle.pdf', p4, height = 70, width = 8, device=pdf, limitsize = F, dpi=300).* This works very well too. Asa my categorical variables are in my Y axis, my R program reorders the names on Y-axis. However, I would
