Swfdec and Ffmpeg only
Hi,
I'm the founder and still very active developer of Puppy Linux, and a
variant named Quirky. Puppy is a cut-down distro, typically 100MB
live-CD. We have always used the Adobe Flash player, though I have
stayed with the Flash 9 player (9.0.48.0) due to its smaller size.
Puppy also has ffmpeg, xine-lib and gxine.
Recently I have been experimenting with Swfdec and Swfdec-mozilla. I

Re: Mount URL as cdrom/iso KVM/QEMU
Just a quick correction and apologies, the actual issue is that http will not work, https will so I dont think this is a bug as such I think this is by design likely for security.
Looking at the man page for qemu-kvm it states http will work with examples given however only https works, my best guess from looking at the spec file from the srpm is that it has only been enabled in the centos

"preferred" version of Linux for R?
Is there a recommended/preferred version of Linux for using with R? Is there one version of Linux that R-users prefer, and/or that works "better" with R? I am working with "large" datasets, and hope to take advantage of as much RAM as reasonable (8-32gb?).
Thanks in advance!

Re: Mount URL as cdrom/iso KVM/QEMU
Hi Daniel,
I have noticed that it will fail exactly as you said if <cdrom> is first in the boot order, if <hd> is first in the boot order the XML validates and it starts as usual.
first in log except below is with cdrom set to first in boot order, second is with hd set first.

Using CentOS 4.4 on very old Dell Inspiron 3500 laptop; would like suggestions regarding using KDE/GNOME in low RAM and low disk situation
Hi;
I'm new to the CentOS list and I only have experience with CentOS 4.3/4.4
on desktops. I just installed CentOS 4.4 on a very old Dell Inspiron 3500
laptop. I choose the desktop option and then deleted the kde and gnome
packages because I have only 192mb RAM and 4gb disk (total). I'd like
suggestions on how to maximize the effective usage of the laptop with CentOS
4.4...as a

Aren't you using Debian? AFAIK jessie supports i586, so if Pentium is
old enough for you you're good to go for likely at least two more
years.
After that I guess I'd be using old unsupported Debians for the
ancient ones. I don't have this old hw on the

Really small Linux and NAS
I have a really nice, old Libretto 110. Only 64Mb memory.
I want to put Linux on it and have a network monitoring system and a
traveling NAS.
But all of the NASs have seemed to have grown beyond their original 64Mb
size (FreeNAS now needs 128Mb).
Only thing I have found is:

Minimal CentOS
Hi! and a warm hello to the CentOS team.
I have a work for which I need some solution from you. Actually we
have some thin clients where we want to put a light weight Linux
distro for users. As of now I have tested with Fedora and Ubuntu
distros but the issue I am finding is they are not able to fit in my
requirement of flash based hard disk consumption (~500 MB). although a

how to specify a hash in a migration create_table.
I want to have a column in my model that needs to store variable information
in a structured manner. For example,:

I would have customized view ( RJS ) that would prompt the user for the

installing extlinux on a fresh system. Why does it fail ?
Hi All,
I am trying to install extlinux on a fresh system.
Here are my steps :
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A) Create an ext2 partition. I did the following steps :
1) boot from CD
2) Activate GParted
3) Create Partition table on the "fresh disk" (/dev/sda).
4) Create 1 ext2 partition (and mark its flag as "boot").
B)mkdir /mnt/Ext2_partition
C) mount /dev/sda1

lss broken when upgraded 4.05 to 6.03
Hi,
I have just joined the list.
I am the original creator of Puppy Linux, now letting other guys take
the reins, and I am working on a fork of Puppy called Quirky Linux,
where I try various experimental ideas.
Up until now, in Puppy and all offshoots, we have used syslinux 4.05 or older.
Over the last few days I have been testing 6.03 (using the binary DEBs
from Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn),

How to use a form.check_box ?
Hey guys,
I''m trying to have a simple webform in my administration section to
add a user. I have the text_fields for adding the user''s name,
password, and password confirmation, but cannot seem to figure out the
checkbox. I want it to be a single checkbox, that if clicked, will set
the database column "access" to be "admin" and if its unchecked, set
it to be
