suggestions for installing CentOS 5 via USB?
I'm having problems installing CentOS via a USB drive. First, I tried using Unetbootin, but with no avail. The 8MB netinstall doesn't work, and the big DVD image doesn't work either. http://lubi.sourceforge.net/unetbootin.html Then I tried this http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-centos-5-live-install-via-windows/ with a CentOS DVD file, and that did not work (just hangs). I tried

CentOS-5.5 Live CD & netinstall
According to <http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOSLiveCD5.5> "There is a "Network Install" option on the Live CD that is the same as our CentOS-5.5-i386-netinstall ISO". I've looked quite carefully at my CentOS-5.5 Live CD (on a USB stick), and I don't see a Network Install option anywhere. Could some kind soul explain where it can be found,

Installing from CD
Folks The machine I'm trying to load does not have a DVD reader, but only a CD reader. Are the multiple CD images of CENTOS 6 available somewhere? Earlier versions had them. Thanks David

Error installing asterisk, module zaptel not found
After deciding to move a semi working asterisk setup to another box, installing and recompiling asterisk, addons and zaptel, modprobe zaptel says, module not found. Following various tales of how to modify udev stuff, still get that error. lspci does show the board in the list. All the LED's on the back of the board are dark. I have a TDM400p (tdm22b). I did not actually install the

netinstall
Hi, I just tried to install CentOS 6.3 netinstall and got the error message -- Disc Not Found -- The CentOS disc was not found in any of your CDROM drives. Please insert the CentOS disc and press OK to retry. How can I insert a disc which is already inserted? What am I missing? [CentOS-announce] CentOS 5 i386 - The CentOS-5.3 i386 Live CD is released
Umm... is there any rational reason to only announce the CentOS-5.3 Live CD on May 27, when it was available since May 19, and Patrice has updated the Release Notes on the same May 19? The CD date is indeed 19-May-2009 02:50 and I've found it on May 21 on all the mirrors I've checked. I was persuaded that the only 5.3 LiveCD available was from ScientificLinux, and I've checked with

termplot intervals - SE or CI?
Thanks for your prompt reply Duncan. I had indeed assumed they were what the help file says until observation raised doubts, which is why I queried it. >From reading the code for termplot(), it seems that either the predict() function doesn't return the 1x standard error, or the curves plotted by the termplot() function are not 1x standard errors. If they're not 1x standard errors,

Saving a User Object while in the Address Controller
Hi, My saves are failing me and I can''t figure out why. I am trying to save an address id to a user object just after I create the address. This isn''t the exact code, but it shows what I am trying to do. class AddressesController < ApplicationController def create @address = Address.new(params[:address]) saved_address = @address.save @user =

termplot intervals - SE or CI?
Hello, A reviewer queried what the intervals were on the termplot I provided in a report. The help file for termplot() suggests they're standard errors (se=T), but in the code the se.fit values from predict() are multiplied by 2, suggesting it's a rough 95% confidence interval, is that right? termplot intervals - SE or CI?
From ?termplot: col.se, lty.se, lwd.se: color, line type and line width for the ?twice-standard-error curve? when ?se = TRUE?. ...which is findable, but might usefully also be made explicit in the definition of the se= argument. -pd > On 10 Jan 2018, at 23:27 , Eric Goodwin <Eric.Goodwin at cawthron.org.nz> wrote: > > Thanks for your prompt reply Duncan. > >

Getting number of days in a month
In PHP, there was an argument you could pass to the Date function to get the number of days in the current month: echo date("t"); // Outputs "28" for February I don''t see anything like this in Ruby/Rails. Right now, I''m using a very ugly line to pull the last day of the month: @number_of_days = (Date.strptime(Date.today.strftime("%Y-%m-01"))

ROR code syntax highlighting on blog?
I am interested in putting the cool syntax highlighting for ROR code. What''s the best way to do that? Is it using textilize or another formatting language? Or do I need special stylesheets? Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks Frank --------------------------------- Yahoo! Mail Use Photomail to share photos without annoying attachments. -------------- next part

Live CD iso
Hi folks I'm just about to start using Centos again. I used it briefly a couple of years ago but found the switch to rpm a bit much after using deb for 5 years. Now there seem to be a lot of changes on the deb front so i'm going to try again with rpm. I noticed that there is now a live CD (as well as the DVD) instead of the six CDs that i used before (iirc). I would just be grateful

How does Live CD find OS's?
If I boot into CentOS on my home server from a Live CD or USB stick and go to Troubleshoot, it lists OS's it finds on the machine. How does it find these OS's? Presumably it looks through all the partitions on all the hard disks for something that looks like an OS? But how exactly does it identify an OS? -- Timothy Murphy gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College,
