centos 5.1 netinstall iso bugged ?
Hi all, i'm trying out a netinstall test installation. When asked to where I do want to install I got a bunch of choices. If i select HTTP I insert: server: mirror.centos.org path: centos/$releasever/os/$basearch but then he says to me that he can't find the "boot.iso" in: http://mirror.centos.org//centos/$releasever/os/$basearch ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ please note the double

graphical shutdown
Hi everyone, I know that Linux "does reboot only for adding new hardware" but here at home I need to do it more often. The shutdown phase is only textual or it can be like on bootup where with "esc" I can see (if i want) the messages ? I can never say if it's me or the "graphical" thing is abandoned ... Thanks for the (eventual) reply... -- Nicola

[OT] My appreciation for Dovecot
Hi guys! I recently switched to Dovecot from Courier with qmail+vpopmail backend. I'm really happy with the switch as all use-cases are more stable and much much faster than before. And the build process is much better as with Courier :) Just wanted to express my appreciation! BR Christoph

SMB hogs cpu - printing freezes server
We have 2.2.7a running on redhat 9.0 with 256 MB ram. Dual cpus - but only PII 300's. Its not running as a PDC - the PDC is an nt box. The system is set up as our main print server with 60 odd print queues that service a wide variety of printers. Approx 200 odd windows pc's as clients. The print files themselves can be largish with multi-page docs with lots of graphics. What we are

An Appreciation of Leo Breiman (1928-2005)
We are organizing three projects to honor Leo Breiman this year. First, Salford Systems' Data Mining Conference will open with a special session devoted to his scientific contributions. Second, we would like to construct Leo's scientific "family tree," identifying Leo's students, collaborators, and others whose work has been influenced in an important way by Leo's

An expression of appreciation
[The following is a personal statement and should not be attributed to or taken as approved by my employer. This is just the email account I use for engaging with the LLVM community, so people will know who I am.] At the recent EuroLLVM dev meeting, in the LLVM Foundation presentation, President Tanya Lattner mentioned an initiative to encourage and promote women's participation in the LLVM

Dependencies in 5,3
First off, I want to express my appreciation for the dedication of the CentOS developers for providing us with the quality work they always do. This is a question and a request for explanation so that my little mind can understand what's going on. And for those inquiring minds who want to know, I have already filed bug reports. ;^> Over the weekend I went through several boxes here at

username check in scp
Hi a fellow debian developer pointed it out to me, that ssh itself does not check the username that is provided for login into a remote host, but that scp checks it. I could verify that the current openssh code from cvs still has a check for the username in scp.c but not in ssh.c. So I created the attached small patch to remove the username check from scp. I hope ?t's correct and that you

Leroy and I strolled out in the dimming afternoon light for a breath of air and to check out the progress of the colors in preparation for the Museum's annual Fall Colors Stroll.
I happened to be in a Latin American prison, accused of running guns to the freedom fighters. All right, the Capitol Hill officers let down the old side this time. But just try to take a snapshot of a blimp and see what happens to you. uuuu WATCH LITL ON WEDNESDAY DEC 13! convert annual data to quarterly frequency
Hi, I was wondering if there is a package I can use to convert my 22 annual observations to quarterly time series so that I will have 88 observations. Also, will there be any harm in doing so? will I loose any important data specific info? I want to run VARs in levels using TY method. Due to small sample, i will probably use a bootstrap method. Thanks! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

clim.pact question (annual cycle removal)
I'm using the clim.pact package, I'm particularly interested in the EOF computation. I've noticed that whether I used the option to remove the annual cycle or not I get the same results. Am I missing something or the option hasn't been implemented yet? Thank you. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
