There is a small problem using intall.packages() (and update.packages()):
Typically I want to install packages for system-wide use, not in a user
directory. Obviously this does not work without superuser rights.
What I would like to be able to do is to specify a

Re: Re: how to realize "MLPPP LFI" on linux
Hi,Andy
Thank your very much!
For the MLPPP LFI,I found that in Cisco configuration,it use "ppp multilink;ppp multilink fragmentation;ppp multilink fragment-delay 20;ppp multilink interleave " command to enable MLPPP LFI.So I think just realizing the same function on my linux router would be fine. But I got no idea how to do this on linux. So is there anything with iproute2?Would you

su, context(selinux?) 2nd prompt
With a recent update of CentOS4, su's behavior has changed, in that after
prompting for password, also prompts for (selinux?) context. I'm seeing
something like:
$ su
Password:
Your default context is root:system_r:unconfined_t.
Do you want to choose a different one? [n]
kde's kdesu barfs on this second prompt. Any way to disable this second
prompt?

Liebert ESP-II protocol
I see there has been some Liebert work here recently. I have a Liebert
UPS that has no USB, just RS-232. I reverse engineered the ESP-II
protocol, at least as far as normal MultiLink monitoring goes, which was
pretty simple. The protocol provides a table of parameter types and
index ranges. So, I can read and (if I dare) write the parameter tables.
We might be able to share info between

ISDN (point to point) questions
Hello;
we are looking to replace our current PBX with a *-box; it is
connected to ONE ppp isdn connection that is terminated by the NC. We
got on this box 4 msn's configured.
currently we are working with pstn fxo's behind the PBX; it works but
we can't use the CSID information behind it. We want to migrate and
keep the MSN's to decide routing in combination with the CID.

please this driver if you have liebert/emerson ESP-II capable ups
As I'm trying to find the correct values for other UPS models and I
only see correct values, please use the attached driver while
compiling nut and please give me an output from upsc.
I would like you to give me the output from upsc along with the
correct values you get from Multilink or the LCD.
The only thing that must be wrong are the multipliers.
Thanks for your effort,

NUT with Liebert UPStation GXT
Hello,
I have a Liebert UPSTation GXT UPS and i'm trying to get it to work
with NUT(using a Multilink serial cable) but without any success so
far. I am aware about the liebert contact-closure driver but this
does not suit my needs as I need to get detailed status on the ups
(voltage levels, temperature, load, etc.)
I have tried every driver that ships with NUT 2.0.5 with no result.

Problems after performing yum update
I performed the update yesterday that included installing kernel
2.6.9-42.0.2.EL and replacing ethereal with wireshark.
First, the trivial...
Wireshark would not run from the KDE menu without editing the menu to
change the command from "wireshark" to "kdesu wireshark" because dumpcap
is at usr/sbin/dumpcap instead of /usr/bin/dumpcap . Making the change
causes wireshark to

Latest techniques for multiple PPP load-balancing
Hey,
I''ve been scouring the web these past few days trying to find a suitable
technique to load balance my network. Unfortunately I think my setup is
very uncommon, so I''m looking to you guys to see if you can help.
I currently have 2 ADSL modems, provided by the same ISP and terminating
on the same gateway (I think having the same gateway is what is causing
the problems, since

Load Balance Outbound AND Inbound Internet Traffic to one location over multiple links
I''ve read through the nano documentation, and it says that it wont
handle scenarios where the main traffic is input. Also, I''ve read
through the linuxvirtualserver documentation, and i dont think that
applies to me either, as that set up intercepts traffic and
manipulates the final destination IP and port for the traffic.
What I would like to do is
1) from the ISP standpoint,

tomcat5 - RHEL4.5 - CentOS 4.5
Hi
I am seeing this issue on a RHEL4 box but i presume that the same will
be for CentOS4.5
I am trying to get tomcat5 up and running using only upstream rpm's, as
opposed to own rolled like i have done before, and hitting this issue.
I have JAVA_HOME set in /etc/tomcat5/tomcat5.conf and also in
/etc/sysconfig/tomcat5.conf and when tomcat is started using the init
script it starts up

ORC JIT Weekly #21 -- OrcV1 removal, Removable code, and Remote TargetProcessControl
Hi All,
Everything is landing all at once, just not in the mainline... yet.
As discussed in
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2020-September/144885.html: OrcV1
will be removed very soon. I have posted a branch with the removal,
"orcv1-removal", in my llvm fork at https://github.com/lhames/llvm-project.
In addition to removing OrcV1, the orcv1-removal branch also contains a

using NUT on centos 5
Hi!
Trying to set up NUT on Centos 5 to monitor a CyberPower 1500AVR UPS.
There seem to be many documents, all of which seem to be not fully consistent
with each other, and most of them aren't up to date.
I'm guessing I should be using udev rather than hal, but I'm somewhat
stumped on how to figure out what device it should be monitoring. there
are a bunch of udev rules installed

smbclient mask command seems not to work the same way with recurse ON for mget and mput
Dear all.
I would like to propose a possible way to make mget and mput behave more or
less the same way, rather that just changing documentation. Please, bear in
mind this is a poor attempt coming from a person with no C skills at all,
so other than testing that only filtered files are transferred, I have not
gone further. Hope at least to have been able not to corrupt any pointer,
but I'm

DAHDI: Multilink PPP over T1
Greetings,
I want to bond two T1 lines running between a Linux machine with a
quad port tor2 card and a router running Cisco IOS. It seems that the
way to do this is to run multilink PPP across both T1 spans, but the
nethdlc/"Linux Generic HDLC" stack does not appear to support
multilink PPP.
Is there a way that I can get DAHDI to make the two T1 spans in
question show up as serial/tty

Liebert PSI 1440 support
Hi,
I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to interact with the above UPS using
its USB/HID interface and have come to the conclusion that it's not
going to be as "easy" as I'd first thought :(
My attempts have all been on FreeBSD-5 (kernel as of today) using NUT
v2.0.2 and fiddling with newhidups -- I tried the simple approach of
adding the IDs and "seeing what

smbclient mask command seems not to work the same way with recurse ON for mget and mput
Dear Rowland.
So sorry, I did not get the responses to this e-mail address, got them by
the purest change googling again.
I'm sorry to disagree with your approach:
1-. In my most recent updates you should have seen I am compiling Samba4
from source. Began with packaged distribution, but considering it might be
a bug, I decided to test myself. 4 different versions, same behaviour. This
means
