Screensaver (or screen blanking) at login screen - CentOS 5.2 or 5.3
Hey guys, I've done a ton of googling, searching and asking in the forums, etc, and I haven't found a way to do this... :) I'm trying to find a way of having some type of screen saver at the login screen so that if I leave a machine not logged into, it won't burn-in the screen. Does anyone know of a way to achieve this? In specific, I'd love to have it simply blank the

sip tcp support
Hi all, i have asterisk 1.2.17 with sip tcp support and i am trying to connect asterisk with HiPath 4000 V.3.0 using SIP. I can see the registration from the HG3540. But when i try to place a call from Asterisk to HiPath, the call fails with SIP/2.0 603 Declined. The strange thing is that the first INVITE uses tcp and the response is a 100 TRYING, the next 7 INVITE are using udp and the respose

[PATCH] liboggz: Fix Dirac bitstream parsing

[Flac-users] libflac memory requirements?
Hello, Can someone give me an idea of the memory requirements for using libFLAC? I'm trying to incorporate FLAC support into a player application for the Rio Receiver (see http://rioreceiver.comms.net for details), but I'm having trouble because FLAC__stream_decoder_new() is attempting to allocate 2099828 bytes for an instance of the FLAC__StreamDecoderPrivate struct. Is this accurate,

Satellite Providers
Hi All, I am investigating the deployment of VoIP/* in Eastern European areas where there is no PSTN infrastructure. As you can understand DSL/Cable connections are a dream. The only option is satellite. Does anyone know of any satellite providers that have low enough/acceptable delays for VoIP? Thanks, Yiannis.

IAX2 trunk mode over satellite
Today has been the day for satellite questions, apparently, so I'll proxy one out to the rest of the community... I asked this tangentially a month or two ago, but I'll put it in a more blunt way: If you have IAX2 trunking mode experience over satellite, please let us know your experiences with that protocol/transport combination. I've got several people asking about IAX2 and

Experiences with RHN Satellite?
This is slightly off topic, and may just be tossing red meat to y''all, but here goes: My boss has RedHat coming in on Tuesday to give a spiel on RHN Satellite. I''m dubious, as it seems mostly like a web UI wrapped around a Yum repository system and a half-baked configuration management system. I''m of the opinion that our time and money would be better spent getting

two routes, non-permanent higher proiority
Hi LARTC experts, Can you help me with this scenario? I have been lurking on this list for a while, but I am very green wrt advanced routing. I have a slackware linux based server in a vehicle with a high bandwidth satellite connection which is only available while the vehicle is stationary. This satellite connection comes in via eth0. But while the vehicle is moving or stationary, we can

Asterisk IAX over VSAT satellite.
Hi all, For some reason VSAT or Satellite Internet services are not mentioned (or searchable) in this list's archives. I thought I'd let you know that I tested Asterisk using IAX (not IAX2) to make a phone call from an analog phone hooked up to an Asterisk system behind a Linksys router connected to a Gilat VSAT satmodem, and it worked. The "other end" (gateway) is a

VoIP over satellite internet
Could those on the list who have used or tried to use VoIP over a satellite internet connection comment on how well it works or if it even works at all in a reliable way. What is the effect of latency on the VoIP path and how much is generally tolerable? routing via satellite adds about a quarter second of latency to the path. Is that too much? Eric

Fwd: final changes to mimetypes rfc
Excellent, thanks for noticing - will add that. Also: question about the Dirac codec identifier in Ogg. It is currently char[5]: 'BBCD\0' - but in your spec it is char[4]: 'BBCD'. Which one should we put in? Cheers, Silvia. On Sat, Aug 16, 2008 at 5:31 PM, David Flynn <davidf+nntp at woaf.net> wrote: > On 2008-08-16, Ralph Giles <giles at xiph.org> wrote:

Asterisk with iax2 over satellite
Hi guys, I'm in the process of setting up an Asterisk server over a satellite connection to allow people on a remote island to place and receive calls over the pstn. What are the ideal settings I should use in iax.conf for the optimal operation over satellite besides the normal options for the type=friend peer? Does anyone have this working? I an place calls as things are now, but there is a

SIP / IAX over satellite
Hi all, ------ I tried to use * over satellite, but all my effort did not succeed. The Asterisk is behind the VSAT and is resposibel for alle the SIP clients in a field location. The clients are notebooks and PDA's running SJPhoen for Windows and PocketPC. Unfortunately I could not find any Linux Client wich worked satisfying. SJ LAbs promised a Linux Version at the end of August but they

mirror combined with 7 day incremental backup
Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to keep a mirror and 7 day incremental backup between to 2 mount points. I want to rsync everything from /mnt/production/ to /mnt/backup/production/ on the same server. Nothing fancy. But , I Want to utilize the --delete option for files that no longer exist on /mnt/production/ that have been on /mnt/backup/production/ for longer then 7 days. I
