RJS specs
Hi again... This is wierd spec problem no. 3. I''ve got a simple one line RJS file that renders a partial specified by the controller page.replace_html("product_info", :partial => @product_partial) The partials in question will contain purely static content - the idea is to have some dynamic links, so you hit http://localhost:3000/gap/product_info/product_1

Specs for Ajax partials with unicode characters
Hi Not sure if this is more Rails or RSpec related... I''ve got an app with an RJS view that updates a div in a page with the contents of a partial. The partial contains a non-ascii character namely a pound sign. I set up a simple test app with this RJS view: page.replace_html("test_div", :partial => "test_action") and this _test_action.rhtml:

View Specs Fail with "protected method render"
I''ve got rspec and zentest installed as well as the rspec rails plugin, and my model/controller specs all pass and work well. I can''t seem to get views to work though - 100% of the specs fail with: NoMethodError in ''/users/show.rhtml should render attributes in <p>'' protected method `render'' called for

error_on is deprecated?
The docs say DEPRECATED. See Spec::Rails::Expectations model.should_have(:no).errors_on(:attribute) model.should_have(1).error_on(:attribute) model.should_have(3).errors_on(:attribute) However the rdoc for Spec::Rails::Expectations shows the same code. The only difference is that it''s "model.should have(1).error_on(:attribute) instead" So is error_on itself deprecated, or is

UI testing framework? (w/o selenium)
Hey all, I am currently working on coming up w/ an easy to use, developer-centric web testing framework to test a J2EE app with. (I have 3 rails apps in production, love rspec, and am currently at a java shop). I''ve looked at selenium, and it just doesn''t seem like it is ready for prime time, and the target audience is developers. So, having said that, does the rspec

String.should_hav_tag
I''ve just upgraded to rspec 0.6.4 and several specs were broken. All for the same reason. String.should_have_tag doesn''t seem to be supported any longer. It used to be possible to write assertions like: response.body.should_have_tag :tag => "form" or "<html><body/></html>".should_have_tag :tag => "body" But these fail

Specifying the contents of a date selector
Another n00b question (can you tell I don''t normally write view code yet???)... I''m using the date_select form helper to give me three select popups, (day, month, year). I want to specify that these exist and are set to today''s date I''ve tried this: response.should_have ''form > p > select

Adaptec 39320A woes
I'm having speed problems with the SCSI card we're using to do tape backup. It seems to be functioning in 16 bit mode and the current thinking is that perhaps it's using a legacy driver instead of the correct one. The Adaptec site has a 'driver' for RHEL5 which I've downloaded and tried to install but it seems to have a problem installing on a CentOS-5 system. [root at

Links in view specs
Hi I have this simple view (used by the Gap controller): <h1>Gap#index</h1> <%= link_to "Get a GAP quote", :action => "get_quote" %> And this spec: context "A rendered gap/index" do setup do render ''gap/index'' end specify "should have a link to the get_quote page" do

winbindd will not connect to samba pdc
I'm trying to migrate to a Samba PDC from an NT PDC. Right now I'm testing whether a Samba member server can effectively grab user account info from a Samba PDC. Both the PDC and the member server are vanilla, no-frills Redhat 9 machines, the PDC is running Samba 3.0.9 and the member is running 3.0.11. I've followed the instructions in the Samba HOWTO for setting up winbindd, that

Specifying views
I''m trying to spec my views with 0.7.1 on edge rails per the instructions on the rspec site [1] and David''s blog [2], but I''m not having much luck. Here''s my spec in specs/views/accounts/ new_view_spec.rb: require File.dirname(__FILE__) + ''/../../spec_helper'' context "The new account form" do specify "should have an

rpec 0.7.4/ rails 1.2rc1 troubles
I believe that I have followed these directions exactly: http:// rspec.rubyforge.org/documentation/rails/install.html My new spec tests work, but my old Test::Unit test don''t produce any output. The only clue I have anything is happening at all are these messages in log/test.log: Spec::Rails::HelperEvalContextController: missing default helper path

How does Norvergence do it ?
So a guy shows up at the the office, after making an appointment with the office manager / receptionist to talk 'phone systems'. After her eyes glaze over, with him talking T1 and Frame-Relay I get to see him. He's from Norvergence. Well dressed. Tells me they can do a T1 for $79, with unlimited local & long distance for free. It also does 'internet'. 'Just give me

[LLVMdev] Runtime linker issue wtih X11R6 on i386 with -O3 optimization
I was told that my writeup lacked an example and details so I reproduced the code that X uses and I was able to boil down the issue to a couple of lines of code. Sorry again for the length of this email. Code was compiled on OpenBSD with clang 3.0-release. ======================================================================== With -O0 which works as X expects:

Which Quad Port FXO is Best?
I'm looking to handle 3 PSTN lines with my Asterisk server. I have a Digium TDM22B and Sipura 3000. The Sipura works great, but the TDM22B seems to have terrible problems with my board---virtually all peripherals need to be disabled in BIOS, and then there is terrible noise, terrible silence and virtually no ability to use DTMF in IVRs. I really wish the TDM22B worked, because I much

Help writing a Scheffe Contrast function for R
Hello, As a new user of R (less than a month) I have got my hands on several books and am pouting through the net looking for help in gaining understanding of this powerful tool. I am becoming more proficient with using basic functions to conduct basic statistics. I am now looking to learn how to write code. After a few small worthless functions I decided to try to create a function that was

meetme application
Hi there, I know this question is kind of stupid. But, I don't know anywhere else to ask. I've received some answers when I asked about the need of having a zaptel interface to make the meetme application work, that said that it was better to have a real hardware then the zaptelrtc software modules. So, my question is, would any of the following cards work with the meetme

Weird operator behaviour
Hi, I have a dataset called 'fish'. fish$Species returns extract 1. When I use fish$Species != c("CRA","PHC"), i.e. I want all species except "CRA" and "PHC", I get extract 2 which is blatantly wrong. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? Regards, James EXTRACT 1 > fish$Species [1] ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB ALB
