So nearly there, but can't install rJava
Thanks Dirk and Enrico, First clarification: I'm in this mess because I'm trying to run R 3.5.2 within Debian stable (9/"sretch") using the stretch-cran35 repository. That uses and provides r-api-35 but many of the packages depend upon r-api-3. As Johannes said a day or so back, the way around this is to use install.packages() in R to get the packages you want. That leads you

rjava - JDK not found
Hi, I would like to test the new package RGG (R Gui Generator). This package requires the installation of several other package. One of them is rJava. I installed sun-java6-jdk and run the R CMD javareconf but the installation still fails ! Do you have any ideas ? * Installing *source* package ‘rJava’ ... checking for gcc... gcc -std=gnu99 checking for C compiler default output file

tsan_interface_java.h; any users? reviving https://github.com/google/java-thread-sanitizer?
The interface files you see are for a prototype of Java Tsan that's internal to Google. It's for use by a JDK that we customized with extensive JVM patches, and enables running the Tsan engine on Java and native code simultaneously. We presented this prototype recently at the JVM Language Summit. Here's the talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UykhZ36W04I We are starting to explore

So nearly there, but can't install rJava
Wow, this has amplified my respect and gratitude for the R Debian repositories. Doing all the install.packages() and following the clues about missing dependencies has taken hours! However, I have almost all the packages I want installed on this machine and Rstudio and the shiny server are installed and running fine. Bizarrely, to my mind, I am totally failing on rJava and hence a number of

As ever, I learn from this: I didn't know apt-file. java bindings 1.0.0 - jni.h not found
Hi all, I am new to Xapian and want to use it with Java. In order to do that I tried to compile the Java bindings. I set XAPIAN_CONFIG and invoked "configure". However "./configure --with-java" exits with an error. Point of failure: checking for jni.h... no checking for jni.h in /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/include... no checking for jni.h in

help updating package rJava (on ubuntu)
Esteemed useRs and Devs, Attempts to update package:rJava to the latest version have failed. See my code and output below. Notably, as suggested here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3311940/r-rjava-package-install-failing $ sudo apt-get install r-cran-rjava ran successfully without error or warning, but my rJava package is not updated, and remains un-updatable... Greatly appreciate any

Tomcat5 with Oracle/Sun jdk on CentOS 5.8
I know this question could be asked on tomcat or possibly other mailing lists, but I'm hoping I can get some help here instead of joining yet another list. I'm running tomcat5 on CentOS 5.8. I'm trying to setup Oracle/Sun java rather than icedtea. I've installed the latest jdk 1.7 and setup alternatives on centos for java and javac: # java -version java version

100% CPU when running (cran2deb) JGR on Debian
Dear all, I installed the amd64 cran2deb [1] JGR binaries on a fresh Debian testing, and JGR is missbehaving. When JGR starts up, one core of the CPU goes to 100% and stays there, even though I am keeping it idle and not performing any operation. I tried JGR with both sun-java6-jdk and openjdk-6-jdk, debian-liv:/home/liviu# update-alternatives --config java There are 4 choices for the alternative

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
Thanks for your help so far Gaël, but I ran into more trouble. I installed the JDK on my system and the messages indicated the JVM version needs to be 1.6. Did you intend to link me to Java 7? Arg, you have to use a version strictly before the 7u25 (probably the 7u21), sorry! I hope that it will work, because I also have problem to compile the trunk version of vmkit (I haven't tested the trunk since two months). I'm investigating. Tell me if it works for you with an older version :) See you, Gaël PS: the warning messages are not important 2013/11/21 Adam Pridgen

r-cran-rjava dependencies on debian jesse, library(rJava) fails when default-jre is missing
Hi, Dirk Eddelbuettel advised me to write here. Here is my original letter to him: I would like to enquire about package r-cran-rjava on Debian jesse. It seems that if default-jre package is not installed, but openjdk-7-jre is installed, then library(rJava) in R fails. I?ve been bitten by this today and I wonder whether this an issue of mine, or is this a possible bug. My server admin used

Currently no Java for Linux-Mozilla on 4-Stable?
Hey folks, I was trying to install a jvm for the linux-mozilla port on 4-stable. 4-stable of yesterday (updated) and all ports of yesterday except as indicated. I am through all of them, blackdown-1.3, blackdown-1.4.2, checked out the previous blackdown-1.4.1, Sun-1.3.1 and Sun-1.4.2. Most of them have incompatible C++ interfaces to the current linux-mozilla, except blackdown-1.4.2, which

I guess I mispoke, I checked out the source from http://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/vmkit/trunk. I thought this was vmkit2. I guess I was just referring to vmkit then.
