HA software advice
We are in need of some very basic software that will give us the ability
to swing an ip address from one host to another during controlled
maintenance or host failure. For now the IP address will be the only
resource that is shared and there will never be a need for shared
storage. Eventually we may want to monitor processes for health
(probably just read in pid file) and it would be great if

GFS availability in Centos5
Hi,
does Centos-5 support the GFS filesystem and the RedHat cluster suite? I did not find anything in
the FAQs.

newie help needed
hi,
I am a system admin who has just set up R-2.3.1 in suse 9.1 (opteron)
for a previous windows user. Please forgive any obvious stupid questions :)
We are struggling with a number of things.
1. is there a gui interface ? How do we use it ? R --gui just gets us
to the command line.
2. how do we do unix commands like cd ?
3. can we define default directories - eg for data files ?
4.

Code inconsistency between release version and git in rsync-3.0.9
There are huge differences between source files in the version 3.0.9
released as a tar.gz and source files in git. I would assume that the
released version would correspond to the version in git but with 3.0.9
it is not like that. In 3.1.0 the released and git versions are more or
less the same.
So my question is, from what source files was the 3.0.9 version created?
Thank you.

Rsync 3.2.3 released
Hi Wayne,
I see that a couple of patches from the rsync-patches tar have
disappeared, like acls.diff or xattrs.diff yet I don't see the changes
in the code. Is there a reason for their removal? Were they applied
differently on the code and are no longer needed?
Thanks for any info on this.

Michal Ruprich

mounting nfs partition at boot.
This seems like another basic question because I always assumed that if
I threw something in my /etc/fstab then it will be automatically mounted
at boot time (unless I put in the 'noauto' option).
But my NFS partition isn't getting mounted, here's the excerpt from my
/etc/fstab file, split on the whitespace so it's easier to read:
nfs_server:/exports/var/www
/var/www

[Bug 11414] rsync: chgrp "/.filename.5afK5X" (in dirdir) failed: Operation not permitted (1)
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11414
--- Comment #2 from Michal Ruprich <mruprich at redhat.com> ---
I stumbled upon this bug and I have a question. I get the chgrp error even when
running the daemon as root.
#ps -aux | grep rsync

I have configured a module in /etc/rsyncd.conf like this:
