Any problem of auto updating using yum?
Hello, all. My systems are centos 4.x or 5.x(i386 and x86_64) and various services(apache, mysql, java, sendmail... etc..). and I would like to set auto update using yum. But some staffs didn't agree my auto update plan, because some services can be effected by auto update. There were no side effects just yum updating until now, and it seems impossible for me to check

ntpd
I am running a server inside of VMWare, and the clock gains ~30 seconds every 1000 seconds or 1.03X. I need to keep the drift under the magic 1000 limit that ntpd kills its self, but despite setting maxpoll really low I get: Dec 11 23:58:14 host ntpd[4909]: kernel time discipline status change 41 Dec 11 23:59:17 host ntpd[4909]: kernel time discipline status change 1 Dec 11 23:59:17 host

Question on pattern matching extractelt
Hi, I have an issue with pattern matching. I have the following SelectionDAG: t13: i32 = extract_vector_elt t2, Constant:i64<1> That I am trying to match with the following pattern: def : Pat<(extractelt (v4i16 SingleReg:$v), 1), (SRADd1 SingleReg :$v, (i64 16))>; But for some reason the pattern does not match. It seems to be due to the fact extract_vector_elt's result

Time/clock issues with Xen 3.0.3?
The time appears to be perfect inside dom0, however all the domU''s tend to have a slightly faster date which gets further out of sync every day. I''m currently using Xen 3.0.3 with Gentoo Linux, under 3.0.2 I had no problems with domU clocks. Are there any known issues which could cause this? I''d strongly prefer not to run ntpd in every domU, having all domU clocks in

what is the best way to delete so many queue files?
Hello, all. I found that so many unnessary queue files are saved at /var/spool/clientmqueue/ directory. I tested two way to delete these files. 1. # rm -rf /var/spool/clientmqueue/* 2. # cd /var/spool/clientmqueue/ ; find . | xargs rm -fv But this makes a few load of the system and took too much time to delete. What is the best way to delete fast without too much load?

Convert a column of numbers to a column of strings
Hello, Please excuse me if this question has been asked before. I'm new to R, and have been trying to google the answers without any success. I would like to convert a set of date and time into R date-time class. Right now, the dates and times are in integer format, so I first need to convert them into string, and then to R date-time using strptime. However, I have a problem converting them

Why the command 'service ntpd stop' cause the time reversed?
Hi guys, Thanks for your reply. I originally used the following command to synchronize time: ntpdate 192.168.0.191 but got the error: ntpdate[16715]: the NTP socket is in use, exiting So i used the way of stopping ntpd service. Now I have known that using command "ntpdate -u 192.168.0.191" can solve the above error, and also know using ntpdate command is an improper way, i.e. should use

Why the command 'service ntpd stop' cause the time reversed?
A shell script is deployed to synchronize time, the script is invoked hourly by crontab, and its content is as follows: #!/bin/bash service ntpd stop ntpdate 192.168.0.191 #it's a valid ntpd server in LAN service ntpd start chkconfig ntpd on Inspected the Linux log(Centos6.4 /var/log/messages), found the following fragment: Jan 7 14:00:01 host1 ntpd[32101]: ntpd exiting on signal 15 Jan 7

Time just moved backwards
Hi there, I got a daily cron (rdate to local time server) job wich adjusts time and which constantly gives me headache. Every day my dovecot suicides with: "dovecot: Time just moved backwards by 11 seconds. This might cause a lot of problems, so I'll just kill myself now." Of course my onboard clock is constantly off by more than 5 secs. I don't want to abandon time

Removing rows from a data frame
Hi... I have a rather large dataframe that I'm trying to remove rows from. I'm issuing the command: dtx[-which(dtx$rdate > "2008-06-16"),] and it tries to print out over 170,000 lines of output. So...I did: options(max.print=1e6) and ran it again. It worked, but when I did a: which(dtx$rdate > "2008-06-16") it tells me that all the data I thought I deleted

timekeeping on VM - ntpd running
This is really stupid question. But referring to: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2009-October/083791.html I don't see any line related to ntpd in my /var/log/messages . Do I need to turn-on ntpd for timekeeping on VMs? Some people say not to use ntpd on VMs for timekeeping or is it ntpdate cron job? Can someone please elaborate on this? Thanks, Jonathan. -------------- next part
