[PATCH 0/5] Add the pci_get_base_class() helper and use it
From: Sui Jingfeng <suijingfeng at loongson.cn>
There is no function that can be used to get all PCI(e) devices in a
system by matching against its the PCI base class code only, while keep
the sub-class code and the programming interface ignored. Therefore, add
the pci_get_base_class() function to suit the need.
For example, if an application want to process all PCI(e) display devices

su command
I am running pulseaudio on centOS 6.5
audio works fine as the user.
running the command
aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
works fine.
when I login as root and run the command
su user -c "aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav"
it does not work.
I thought su actually runs as that user...
is there some "magic" to su I don't know about?

The www has failed me with this, so I'm trying you guys. Sound worked
great out of the box when I installed 7.2... Yay! I could watch all
kinds of videos, like on facebook and youtube. And I could listen to
most podcasts too. But then something happened. It was either a kernel
upgrade or that I installed vlc (for watching videos on DVD) and the

Question on script
Hi all,
I am trying to extract from the aplay -l output the Card and Device numbers.
I had a script that was working but found another motherboard that has
an EXTRA word.
HDA Nvidia and HDA ATI HDMI is what I am talking about below.
how do I search for a line that has HDMI (which I know how to do), then
ignore everything upto the device work and take the next field after that?
Thanks,

Audio fails on centos 5.5 sony laptop - snd-hda-intel
Hi List, been chasing my tail for the last two hours and getting nowhere
on my wifes laptop.
I only do updates monthly on her machine, as it is safely behind
firewalls and only does email and browser stuff.
I have never had audio problems on this laptop, Centos just worked from
day one - even the wireless.
It appears that the 5.5 kernels and related audio driver snd-hda-intel
do not function.

encoding speex, (insanity looming)
Hi All,
I'm very new to speex and in fact handling audio at all, it seems I have run
in to a problem I seem unable to fix. I'm trying to take audio from a microphone
using alsa, then encode it as speex and save to disk. I have been
wondering if it has something to do with endian type, but speexenc and
speexdec works fine.
Currently I have the following setup:
