Unable to connect VMs to a bridge over bonded network on Debian 9 (works fine on Centos 7.4)
Hi, Sorry of this is the wrong list, trying to find some help. I am trying to set up 2 KVM hosts using Debian 9 (connecting to a 3 node Centos 7.4 gluster cluster) To get the bandwidth I have bonded 2 NICS each end. However while the network works fine for the Debian VM host the VM guests cannot connect/get an IP using DHCP connecting to br0. (Same setup on the Centos end works fine however)

Problem with Bonding Driver
Hi, I've using linux bonding in active-backup mode to combine two pairs of GigE NICs (eth0/eth1, eth2/eth3) into two logical bonds (bond0/bond1). All is working fine. However, I would like to specify a primary interface for each bond. This means I need to specify different options to the bonding module for each bond. I have tried every conceivable incantation of options and cannot get the

Image conversion with ImageMagick doesn't work on CentOS, but it works fine on Debian Lenny.
I recently came across the need to convert jpg images with IM, did a standard install of "yum -y install ImageMagick" and found that images converted with CentOS's base port of IM would actually corrupt the images, yet using the same (albiet different version, different distro) software didn't corrupt the images at all. By corrupted, I mean, the bottom portion of the image under

Opinions on bonding modes?
I am working on setting up an NFS server, which will mainly serve files to web servers, and I want to setup two bonds. I have a question regarding *which* bonding mode to use. None of the documentation I have read suggests any mode is "better" than other with the exception of specific use cases (e.g. switch does not support 802.3ad, active-backup). Since my switch *does* support

etherchannel/port group/bonding plus vlan works well
I figured I should post this because before I went to do it I searched the web for caveats etc and didn''t really find much. So anyway, I set up bonding + vlan for a project. Computer is dell powerdge 350 with 2 intel 82559 10/100 nic running stock 2.4.20. I tried both the eepro100 and the e100 drivers for the nics, both work 802.1q and bonding are modules. Switch is cisco 2924xl-en

I''m curretly having problem with ethernet bonding, my setup are as follow: ip add: 192.168.10.30/24 I do: # modprobe bonding # ip addr add

NetworkManger creates extra bonds; is this a bug?
Hi Neil, Thanks for your comments. What's the purpose of creating spurious ?bond0?? It's confusing. Is it anywhere documented? Every time I restart NetworkManager it creates another bond0! Bonding question - active-backup
Hi I have bonding working and i can failover between active (eth0) and backup (eth1) without issue, however is there a way to automatically fail back to eth0 when this link once again becomes available? I understand this may be undesirable due to flapping etc but i just wonder if its possible. thanks

bonding driver with arp detection
Hello - Was wondering if anyone is running the bonding network driver in active/backup mode using arp_validate? I'm trying to deal with really crappy network switches from Dell and I thought I could work around their faults in the short term by switching from link monitoring to arp monitoring. But I ran into a situation just now that seems even arp monitoring isn't enough. This is my

Channel bonding on Guest VM being slow
Hi guys, Greetings for the new year The problem faced by me is simple, I cannot get channel bonding to work perfectly with Xen. I am trying to boost the bandwidth of guest domains by using link aggregation (a.k.a channel bonding). I have tried round robin (mode 0) and high availability (mode 1). I know that mode 1 will not give me bandwidth boost. But strangely once i try mode 1 for the guest, I

NetworkManger creates extra bonds; is this a bug?
Hi All, I see an unexpected beahviour from NetworkManager on CentOS 7.1. Using nmcli tool, I create a bond with two slaves as explained in the Red Hat 7.1 Networking guide. I enable slaves and master; bond works as expected. When I restart NetworkManager, it creates a new bond with the same name but not connected to any device. Two bonds with the same name is confusing for my other monitoring

bond of bonds
Hi, I am trying to use Link-aggregation with redundancy between switches that doesnot support SMLT in switches. I have 4 network ports. First two are connected to a switch and LACP/LAG is enabled. Third and Fourth ports connect to another switch with another LAG group. I was thinking create two mode 4 bonds and bond those bonds to mode 1 (Active/Passive) bond. But it seems this is not
