How can I create raid 1 - Centos 5.7 64 minimal installation
Hello,
I have a server working on centos 5.7-64 minimal installation. I have
3 separate physical drives:
120 gb ssd, 2x 3tb disks for storage.
My linux installation is on ssd disk, and I want to make raid 1 for
these two 3tb disks and store data, like under /mnt/data.
Can you please tell me the path how this is possible?
Thanks for your help!

SAN help
My CentOS 5.4 box has a single HBA card with 2 ports connected to my
Storage. 2 Luns are assigned to my HBA card. Under /dev instead of seeing 4
devices I can see 12 devices from sdb to sdm. I am using qlogic driver that
is bulitin to the OS. Has any one seen this kind of situation?

install on raid1
Hi All,
I'm currently trying to install centos 5.4 x86-64bit on a raid 1, so if one the 2 disks fails the server will still be available.
i installed grub on /dev/sda using the advanced grub configuration option during the install.
after the install is done i boot in linux rescue mode , chroot the filesystem and copy grub to both drives using:
grub>root (hd0,0)
grub>setup (hd0)

Re: Using diskOnKey as additional disk - is it possible with default configuration?
Mats,
Thanks for your trial; following your mail I tried it with hda; it
is the same, it does not work -
"fdisk -l" does not show hda.
Regards,
Ian

expand physical volume
Hi.
I added a disk to a hardware raid 5 array and now i want to expand the
LVM physical volume. There are now 4 sas 146GB disks in the server.
The virtual disk /dev/sdb from the raid controller has been resized
successfully with the server management software osma.
[root at srv1 ~]# fdisk -l /dev/sdb
Disk /dev/sdb: 438.4 GB, 438489317376 bytes

Installation problems with large mirrored drives
I am trying to install CentOS 4.6 to a pair of 750GB hard drives. I can
successfully install to either of the drives as a single drive, but when
I try to use both drives and mirror the partitions, I start having
problems. Anaconda crashes as it is trying to format the drives.
This is what I'm trying to create:
/dev/md0: 200MB, /boot
/dev/md1: 2GB, swap

Can't resize second device in RAID1
Hi,

I have now freed other space on sdb. So I deleted sdb3 and recreated

Curious fdisk report on large disk
I have a 1.5TB internal disk on my server.
I partitioned this with fdisk,
and CentOS-5.6 runs perfectly on it.
But fdisk gives a very strange report.
Here is the perfectly normal response to mount:
-----------------------------
/dev/sdb10 on / type ext3 (rw)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
/dev/sdb2 on /boot type ext3

creating domU''s consumes 100% of system resources
Hello,
I have noticed that when I use xen-create-image to generate an domU, the
whole server (dom0 and domU''s) basically hangs until it is finished. This
happens primarily during the creation of the ext3 filesystem on an LVM
partition.
This creation of the file system can take up to 4 or 5 minutes. At which
point, any other domU''s are basically paused... tcp connections time

Upgrading to larger HD with LVM
What's the easiest way to transition to a larger HD when using LVM2? I'm
running Centos 4.4. I'm going from a 20gb HD to a 40gb HD. I've already
DD'd it to the 40gb HD. So now I have 20gb of unused space. Ideally, I'd
like to make it one big physical space for the logical space instead of
making another physical partition to expand the logical. Here is what I
have now

grub command line
Hello Everyone
I have a remote CentOS 6.4 server (with KVM access), when I received
the server it was running with LVM on single disk (sda)
I managed to remove LVM and install raid 1 in sda and sdb disks
the mirroring is working fine, my only issue now is that everytime I
reboot the server I got the grub command line and I have manually boot
using comand
grub> configfile
