problems compiling R-0.63.3 on alpha
Hi again !
Thanks for the info on updating the config.site file which I
have done. I have also added -lm in the Makeconf manually
because this is needed explicitly for DEC cc.
However, there are still a few problems when linking some
of the files as you can see from the enclosed log.
Ciao,
Andreas

Hi !
I have problems compiling R successfully on a DEC-UINX 4.0E.
I have applied the recommended config.site, which I enclose.
As can be seen from the compilation log there are linking errors...
I did a 'make check' which fails for the R

Dovecot extremely slow!
Please help,
Dovecot is running extremely slow for the last couple of weeks and it
seems to be getting worse (or my patience running short).
I attach the 10-master configuration and the log file after running
strace according to: http://wiki.dovecot.org/Debugging/ProcessTracing
I can click on an email and wait for a minute or more before receiving a
connection dropped or no error at all. I

cron job failures with a perl script containing Astro::Time
Everyone,
I am building a gateway server with a new : CentOS Linux release
7.3.1611 (Core)??with 3.10.0-514.2.2.el7.x86_64 kernel.
Everything was going find, but I was not able to get a particular
cronjob to function properly that contained a perl script with
Astro::Time as an include file. Astro::Time was installed with the use
of the cpan module downloaded from the Centos repositories.

Verify limit-objects from clients in Gluster9 ?
Hello all.
Is there a way to check inode limit from clients?
df -i /path/to/dir
seems to report values for all the volume, not just the dir.
For space it works as expected:
# gluster v quota cluster_data list
Path Hard-limit Soft-limit
Used Available Soft-limit exceeded? Hard-limit exceeded?

Garbage Collecting
Dear all,
Me and the Garbage Collector doesn't understand each other...
I'm on R-1.0.1 (I have requested an upgrade to the right local people), an
osf1 system with an alphaev6 CPU. I have fair amounts of memory to use,
but it seems to be used up pretty fast nevertheless.
I'm now trying to see what the garbage collector does, I have inserted a
gc(v=T)
call at a spot in my code.

text with greek letters
Hi,
I am having troubles in putting greek letters and formatted text in a plot
m=1.43432
sig=0.124333
text(10.5,0.07,sprintf("<Sigma>=%1.2f±%1.2f",m,sig))
I would like to have the greek letter Sigma followed by the formatted numeric values of m and sig.
Does someone know a solution?
thanks a lot

Inverting matrix...
Dear all,
Either I'm being totally blind now (as you know, the eyes are the first
thing that is blinded :-)), or something is missing in
"An Introduction to R". The section heading of section 5.7.1 is
"Multiplication, inversion and solving linear equations", and since I was
looking for the canonical way of inverting a matrix, this was the place to
look. However, I found

JSpeex help
Hi Sanjiv,
There does indeed appear to be some trouble with
the Javasound SPI encoder (the SPI decoder works well).
I am working on it, and hope to have a fix soon. In the
mean time, you can use the encoder outside of
JavaSound, that one works well (see the command line
encoder as example code of how to implement it).

problems compiling R-0.63.3 and 0.64.0 on alpha
I have problems compiling R (both 0.63.3 and 0.64.0) on a DEC-UX 4.0E alpha
(ev6) as illustrated in the enclosed log. I have tried adding the suggestions
given in PLATFORMS, without any significant improvement...
I have included the config.cache aswell.
Any suggestions on how to solve this ?
Thanx!
Andreas

Matrix output from drawing functions
Dear all,
I'm a bit confused about the output from functions that generates random
values, e.g. rpois. I'm using 0.65.1 on Digital UNIX alphaev6.
If I say
> rpois(10,5)
output is not unexpectedly:
[1] 4 6 5 7 6 5 2 2 5 3
but I figured that if I go:
> rpois(10,1:10)
I would get a 10x10 matrix as output, with random values for each of
the vector elements in the row vectors, but

Obscure bug....?
Dear all,
I've been struggling for days now with a piece of code that I have posted
here before, that has a really obscure bug. I think I may have isolated
it, but I have no idea what it is.... It might also be a bug in R I
guess, as it seems that one or several of list elements are not passed
when a function is called, but quite rarely.
I have been hacking rather wildly on the histogram

Applying a function of several variables to data
Dear all,
After looking at several packages I decided I would use R for my thesis
work (we've even got a site license for S-plus), so I'm learning.
I have run into a problem, and nobody on the house has a solution, so I'm
wondering if anybody out there can help.
I've got two functions of four variables, one outputs a scalar, the other
an array, and I want to be able to give an
